hi guys
about 2 days ago my cabin lamp stoped working so i checked it out, the bulb seems to be fine , filiment was intact but it was not turning on.
any way yesterday i tried to put the bulb back in the lamp but it didnt light up instead it gave me a small spark when i tried to put in.
checked the fuse was okay.
At that time i didnt care much but the next thing i know every time i start my car my Trip Computer is re-settign it self and after few hours my Alarm and Central locking stoped working.
Now thats a major issue. :(
Took car to Mitsu Service Centre (Alan Mance, Footscray), time 3:30 PM , guy at reception told me cant help you sir as we normally finish work at 4:00 PM on friday and boys are getting ready to go home. the earliest will be Tuesday.
So have to take things in my own hands , got home and checked the Fuses again bingo the Fuse # 11 (Cabin Lamp) is finally out , replaced it and Trip computer, Alram and central locking is back on and working fine.
but
Cabin lamp is still not working and give sparks when i try to put bulb in it, any ideas ??????
DiD anyone ran into same issues??????

You know thats funny, I had a similar problem.
Last week I had my over speed alarm replaced. The day before I took it in I noticed the cabin light wasn't working and my keyless entry wouldn't work apart from the boot button.
I checked the bulb and the fuse and all was good. I didn't have time to look in to why the keyless entry wasn't working.
Anyway, they replaced the over speed alarm and I asked them to check the keyless entry.
He told me the keyless entry fuse was dead, and the cabin light was fine. So my guess is somehow the keyless entry and cabin light are related.

Cabin lamp + Central Locking + Trip Computer memory + Alarm are all conected to one 15 Amp fuse , ihtink it No11.
and if that fuse is blown your car has no security at all , even with the key and key will only lock/open one door at time and when you lock the door it does not turn on the security light on the Dash.
cheers

well if that is the case then the fuse must be fine because the green security light still comes on when i lock the car with the key!!
hmm, oh well - new alarm here i come!!

Uhh, that can't be good........ You sure? I don't think Mitsu would be dumb enough to let the car's alarm system to be disabled simply by removing a fuse.... If that's the case, I think I'm going to upgrade from the stock alarm....

That raises a good question.
Is there a stock security system on the 98 TF's? I ask because the manual says there is but when I run through what the manual says to arm and trigger it doesn't work.
I don't see a "Sec" light on the dash which the manual describes. I'm guessing it was an option not included.

it wasnt an option - it was factory fitted to every magna - for as long as i can remember from the TE on!!
it is a little green light which is found below where the auto gear level is screened in the instrument cluster.
hmm, my fuse was fine - and the interior lights works and so does the immobiliser - so new alarm here i come -i am sick of having a car with remote central locking with a remote that dont work!!

My TE never had an alarm... Just an imobaliser that is built into the key like all magna's.
I purchased an aftermarket one.

ok thats what i meant - factory immobiliser!!
i dont know if the magnas come with factory alarm or not.
but the green light indicates the immobiliser is on!! but then again - if the immobiliser is on and someone opens the boot, bonnet or doors the horn sounds - maybe i do have a factory alarm!!
i dunno!! all to hard - need a new alarm anyway!! i want a working remote!!

Well that’s interesting. I certainly don't have that. But I do have the sticker on the car that says immobiliser.

You can easierly test to see if you have a factory alarm by locking the car with a window down, then put your hand through and open the door from the inside. The hazards and horn will start beeping then.

yeah that will work - or if it is locked - wait 30 seconds - takes that long to arm - then try and unlock the door from inside - after locking it with a key outside.

I've got an aftermarket alarm system anyway - but the factory one still goes off too!! It's pretty cool, my new remotes work from like 100m away! :D

whats that worth to get fitted??
if u dont mind my ask
also - what features does it have?? break glass sensors and knock sensors??
I want a fairly sensitive alarm - if a cat jumps on the hood i want it to go off!! sorta thing!! something sensitve enough that if ppl try to undo the lugnuts on my mags it wil go off - i am mostly worried about my 18's!! seeing as how they are some of the most expensive parts of the car!!
bloody cats - got footprints right up the windscreen right in the drivers line of sight - bloody things!! i hate em!!

Ahaha.. want me to test your alarms? *takes a crowbar long to the cruise*
My TE had an immobiliser, but no car alarm... I'd be interested to know, actually, how many Magnas, TE onwards, have been stolen as opposed to broken into? You'd think the figure would be pretty low if Mitsu installed immobilisers as factory....
