Im Picking up a new little car for a rally project, but i still want it to be street registered.

Its had a custom 2inch exaust put on it and i dont know how loud it is untill i get down there. The car is about 5 hours drive away. I will be able to hear if its too loud to pass the blueslip as soon as i start it.

So basically is there a quick way to make the exaust quieter to pass the blue slip ?
then i can just reverse it once its passed. Like steel wool or something maybe ???

Any Ideas welcome.

get some steel wool and wrap it in chicken wire.... undo one of the flanges and stick that into the exhuast pipe under the car.. and do it up again
car will probably run like a dog.. but will be quiet..

another thing you can do is try and make a gasket for one of the flanges.. make it with metal but with only a 1" hole in it..

maybe you could put a butterfly valve in the exhaust....then have a servo or some kind of actuator. You could somehow attach it to your throttle cable, so it opens more the more you put ur foot down :P better ot have it on a red missile switch so you can flick the switch, and whoa la, instant exhaust noise and power! lol

you might want to drill holes in it to allow exhaust to flow whilst closed.

btw, if it is straight thru, wouldn't it be a bit hard to get it thru an emmissions test?

ohk this is all sorted

i rang the guy and its a 2inch sports muffler not straight through or cat back.

so it should be sweet as... i dont want issues with the EPA....yet....
