guys
got the engine jacked up, old mount is on the bench...
How do we remove the old rubber from the inside of the mount itself ?
does it need to be pressed out ?
its really jammed in there, and i can seem to get it out...
any help appreciated.
cheers
Nathan
cut it out
put it in a bench vice or somthing to hold it there and cut it out with a hacksaw

Did you use a factory replacement rubber mount or a polyurethane (spelling?) mount?
Cause my top one has just gone and Im not sure what I should replace it with...

i got mine from Megatron in QLD.
tell ya what, his service was bloody fantastic !
product came over night from qld, when i was having trouble getting the old rubber out of the mount, i gave him a buzz, he told me what to do in about 10 seconds.....easy job in the end.
the mount he sold me is perfect, has stopped vibration down to almost zero !
the engine / tranny doesnt jolt now when gears are being changed !

So what mount did you get? The standard, street or race one? He offers those 3 options...
He just sent you the replacement insert, and you removed your old rubber and pressed it in?

I purchased the 'street - recomended' inserts
they dont sent out the whole mounts these days.
Very hard to get the old inserts out, as there is a metal ring around it, and it bonds to the mount itself..
Make sure you have a hack saw, chizel, hammer and torque wrench handy when doing this mod !

so do you need to have a spare mounts to put the rubber in ? is there no other way of preserving them and just taking out the black rubber bit ?
cheers

I just recently had my front one changed. Car feels alot smoother now.
If you get a standard OEM one it comes with the lot, mount and casing.

And how much is that? Did you get it from Mitsi?
Edit: Just rang Mitsi... $204 just for the mount, not including fitting!! CRAP!!! He said its not just a rubber mount, but that its oil filled??? Whats the advantage of that?

Just had to have one of mine done on the TH. Part was $178. Fitting was done as part of other things being done so don't know how much it would cost just have a new mount fitted labour-wise.
