if mounting them up front the brackets are almost identical but third gen has packing washers glued to the bracket to get the right depth.

it *might* fit but I cant say 100%
just had a look at mine theres not a lot of room up there. in the 3rd gen its also a lot more forward than the 2nd gen so the map lights will be shining on the front head rests.

the lights you have pictured are in 3rd gens up above the rear vision mirrors top set are from altera and bottom set in verada the hole for the altera set (top) is way to small for the bottom set (verada) and the brackets a i cant help you on mate.

there are 2 sets of mounting holes in a 3rd gen for either light.

What he means is the interior light with maplights (the bottom one of the pic you posted) were only fitted to the front near the rear view mirror, it was never fitted to the middle of the car in the 3rd gen range.

really? wow thats weird, thanks for clearing that up.
it was confusing becuase all base model magnas gen 1-3 had the same centre light, so i thought it would use the same bracket holes.

confirmed will not fit where the center light goes. also tried a set from altera (with 2 globes) which will bolt in the existing bracket but it leaves a gaping hole in the roof lining. thanks Paul now I have a saggy roof.

This is actually the same case when retrofitting the centre light w/map lights into the 2nd gen, it leaves a gaping hole because of the mount alignment difference. That was why I ended up just fitting the front map mights to the front of the car in the old 2nd gen.
