I'm reaching the end of my love for the Magna's... I had a drive of my parent-in-law's VR wagon last night and quite liked it... I think I'm becoming a convert...

my mate had a VR calis V8, well it was not, and it was quick. but i think my old 93 verada was nicer(better) to drive. but as for VR vs Ralliart :bowrofl: :bowrofl: even with that V8, the ralliart is 100 times better car.

If you have a 2.6, thats understandable.

When you have a 2.6l second gen there's no wonder you think that.

Drive an equivalent magna and then make your decision VR is 98? Drive a TH Magna 3.5l...

Ahh..sorry I saw 98 up above in the thread somewhere lol

Even then, compare it to a 95 TS V6...not a 2.6l 4cyl....

Actually, thinking about it -- a nice new(er) Magna would be very nice...

Such decisions

What would I be able to pick up for 10, 11?

I feel sorry for you...:P

As for refinement, the VR would have to have been one of the most unrefined cars available at that time. Who like plastics which rattle to bits?!:D

Anyway, maybe go and drive a V6 Magna or Camry from the same year or later. Miles ahead in refinement.

Best value rides out there are the KE/KF/KH Verada's. They're sexy, loaded with kit, ultra smooth, torquey, and shamefully cheap. Bloody great cars they are, I'm looking at getting one either later this year or early next year. Finance ends on my KS in Jan 07.

KJ's are getting down too, and they've got the tippy:D

No one in their right mind would choose a used VT over say a used TF (unless they're a "Holden fan"). Magna still more refined and the sweet sounding 3.0L sh!ts on 3.8L unecotec ear-destroying trash. I should know, my dad has one (VT II Berlina).

Thank for your input, everybody...
I'm heading down to the caryard on Saturday to see what they have ... I've been told there's some 6'ers down there, I've gotta take a look a look around. But my mind's not made completely; I could still go either way. I'd really like a TJ s2 (father-in-law sold his due to engineering problems) but I'll just have to see.

I agree the 3.0L v6 sounds very nice. But u can still get the 3.8 holdens to sound good to. My brothers exuast sounds very beefy when the charger is activated :D

It looks like I'll be picking up a 1998 Verada for less than 9k from the local(ish) caryard... the dealer is pretty much a friend of my partner's olds, so he's going to do me a good deal. And we've already agreed that he'll give me $2k for the TR, currently the ticketed price is $11,999, but since they've done lots of business through him, he's going to do me a better deal. So I should be looking at less than 9k for it.

Needs a service, a bit of a tune, the exhaust fixed, but apart from that she's a sweet drive.

OMG sunroof! And too much bling for me to worry about when I'm driving to and from work of a weekday... ;)

Organised finance today, I should hear about it mid-Monday... I'll update and let everyone know how it goes =)

Edit: I've found it's an KF / Ei .. sunroof goodness :D
