Got some issues with trip computer in TH.

All functions work ok, fuel guage working ok... but over last 2 fills
the RTE hasn't gone back up after filling up and its now stuck on "---".

My fills are usually pretty full whole tanks (60-70L),
topped up 20L tonight just to check - nope, no cigar.

Yes I reset the computer at every full tank.

Any ideas?

Might go out now and disconnect the car battery, see if an ECU reset can help.

Ok, yanked the battery & reconnected... reprogrammed the trippy.
Started engine & it ran ok when cold, kept it at 1500rpm for 30s
and all was well so took it out for a drive.

When it warmed up... now seemed I've caused the ol' "Idle problem".
Drove 2-footed to avoid stalling, made it home... but by time I parked it
the idle stalling pretty much fixed itself. So I went out again.

after 20 mins of aimlessly driving around... trippy's "---" suddenly flashed to "470km".

yay :P

Cool. There is a fix for this I remember reading in the Magna manual when trying to fix my cars fuel gauge. Can't find the thread right now of course, but it's there somewhere. If you need it I have it on my other computer.

Have you recently installed a CAI?

I noticed after i put my CAI in, it played around with my trip computer heaps.

I had 350KM on it when i put it in, i drove the car for 15-20mins to go to a mates house and it was dropping very rapidly till it started to blink ---

I dont think the car liked the sudden increase of air flow. But after about 5-10 refills the trip started to work again and get used to the change.

hmmm, good point.

No CAI but I did swap the airfilter, original was pretty grotty so switched it for a cleaner one.

Not sure if I might have dislodged a cable somewhere... along the way I also turned around
the top resonator (thought it was pointing the wrong direction) 180degs.

Can't afford to fillup the tank again just yet... petrol's hit 144 last 24 hrs

Just thought i'd mention that my trip computer is VERY accurate, told me i'd used 57.7 litres, filled up last night, 57.7 litres (same fuel pump as the time i last filled up). I thought that was pretty awesome. So now i'll know just how much fuel i have left :D.

mines the same, it says i used 60L and would put it about 59.5-60.5 on average

Hokay, confirmed this damned thing's Got Issues!

Filled up a full tank in TH again tonite, afterwards the reading is still "---".

Plus the Fuel Usage is inaccurate too, said its used 65L when the tank only accepted 60L.

The fuel guage doesn't always go to Full either, maxes out just below the full mark.

Any ideas what to check fellas?
eg fuel guage sender? contacts?
(where's the damned module for the trip coNputer  sit anyway, centre dash?)

Annoying as the (near same) computer in our KJ works fantastic.
Usage is always accurate to the 0.1L, love that unit.

The trip computer will adjust to the way the car is being driven. For example if you are doing lots of traffic driving, sitting around idling etc, the amount of kms left in a tank will go down.

410kms to empty means based on a similar driving style to how you have been driving.

If you took a trip up the hume highway right now you would find it would stay on 410kms for ages, or even go up!

Ok its working again - I think.

This time I yanked the dome light & musical notes fuses (10 & 11?) and it reset the
computer, thereafter need reprogramming the keyless, computer & idle.

Annoying.
