Does anyone know if it would be possible to transplant the Climate control from an Advance into the VRX? is the surround different shape etc.? How much $$$, and would it be worth it?

I was told my Mitsu it can be done when I wanted to change over to climate control to the Series 2 for my Series 1, at a very very costly price that is not worth it at all...

Well, I'd imagine climate control is better. It looks a whole lot better than the stock aircon panel.
umm..
Doesnt the VRX come standard with Climate control?
Or are you talking about the other way around?

TOOOOOO expensive to do..
there are the surrounds the controll behind the face. the cabeling the computer the sensors and then trying to intergrate that into your existing setup..
You would be looking at a full day to 2-3 days for someone to do it...
If you wanted to do it your self and are electrically minded then Id say maybe 1 week for you to do it your self...

I was quoted over four grand for the parts alone..... plus labour!!!!
Not sure if they were being fair dinkum or if they just pushed the price up cause the didn't want to have to do the job.

Have heard the CControl is very expensive direct from Mitsu. And there is heaps of re-configuration needed to make it work. Tricky wiring, etc.
Not worth it, I would say, aftermarket. I find it very nice. The CC in my 2002 VR-X is great... handles all conditions very well. Adjusts fan speed, temp... it even knows when it sunny and not. One thing I hate is the north american habit of opening "Outside Air" on full Auto. Let's the smoggy diesel and 25 year old Sigma's smoky exhaust into the Cabin. I think the fresh air thing is mandatory over there. So you don't choke on re-circ cabin fumes from a leaky exhaust? plus, the car doesn't fog up on outsidde air?
Still, the full auto climate is nice. But installing it later into a car not designed for it would be too costly, and timeconsuming. Find a second hand TJ Sports or VR-x for around $21 grand :)
