hey guys when u lowered ur cars, did u guys change ur shocks n struts as well?
d guy dat lowered my car said dat my car didnt lower as much as expected cuz of my shocks n stuff.

these guys r silly billys n dey pissed me off cuz dey keep stuffing me around.first when i left my car wid dem, they sed dat theyre gonna fit a muffler wid a 7 " tip n wen i came bak it was only 5' tip. then i find out 2day dat my car is only lowered 1.5".when they told me (n it says on the receipt) that its lowered 2" all round with king springs.then they said 2day dat king springs dont make springs to lower the magna 2".
the front is lowered about an inch and the rear is stickin up.when i stand 10 metres away from my car i can see the yellow springs sticking out.

and they talkd 2 me like im stupid or somethin.they sed" u have 2 take it to the wholesalers.theyre the proffesionals ok,do u noe wat they do?"

guys who saw my car at the last cruise, it looks weird the way the back is sticking up?

so i just wanted 2 know, is this suppose 2 happen?

Sad to hear;

According to some of the Spring mechanics I spoke to about Magnas, The Sports, VRX and Ralliart have decent sports shocks that do not need to be changed when you lower the car but the other models in the range will need to.

I don't think anyone would really mind helping you..

SOMEONE GO DOWN WITH HER TO THE HSOP TO PROVE TO THEM BUGGERS THAT IT CAN BE DONE!!!!

$550 is very steep for King Springs plus labour! The most expensive quote I got was $400.....

I'd be going somewhere else Blaizan...next time you're going somewhere for a quote give me a ring and I'll come with you. I know a few places that are better for you to go to then that knobjockey's place you're going to now.

Tell them you need King Spring superlows. (60mm drop)

You will get a set of Superlows for the front and a pair of Lows for the back.

They should look like this.

http://members.optusnet.com.au/miltonf/car/Oldpics/superlows.jpg

When i get home ill check to see if i can read the part numbers (from the bigger pics)

*edit* And $500 for an install.. You missy got taken for a ride! They should be quoting you no more than $400 (including labour and alignment)

soounds like a bunch of dodgy a-holes to me.. I got my car done with kings just about 2 weeks ago. looks great.

I got Superlows for the front (kings part number: KCFL-42SL, KCFL-42 for just lows) and lows for the back (PN: KCRL-43). It doesnt look high at the back at all. (I put my mates full height punching bag in the back for a week and a half tho, just to make sure it was settled :) ).

Ask them what part numbers they used? Did they give you your old ones back? If they cant provide either I would check to make sure they aren't just cut and sprayed!!

I feel for you tho. I hate it when ppl rip others off. It certainly pays to research beforehand.

P.S. I'd come and show them my car too but there is the sleight issue of distance...

I take delivery of this baby 2morrow! How much do u wreckon I should lower it? They're 18x8s with 235s so she'll probly scrub easy. Also has any used any brand other then Kings? I have Kings in the front of my Lancer, and I wrekon it made the ride way too harsh... a bump nearly puts ur head through the windscreen!

I would have to say that lowering the front more than the rear is probably the worse thing you can do for handling. It will affect the steering due to the chassis no longer sitting a the angle it was designed to from the factory. The gap inbetween the tyre and guard is not always meant to the the same inbetween front and rear!

TheSandman: Sounds like the shocks were probably mismatched to the new springs.

few people have used Lovells, but Kings seem to be the cheaper, but still excellent, alternative.

blazian: What happened with you and your stuff?

TheSandman: If not.. Go to Killbilly's favourite suspension specialist.. Pedders.. :p He doesn't like them for some reason.. but I've had my TF lowered by them and its been great for 5 years!

I've explained my perfectly justified view on them before many times. I also never said that they were ALL bad and that EVERYONE has problems.

The rim size doesnt matter with lowering man. Its still the same size outside radius.

Ive got super lows on my VRX.. no scrubbing.. so long as youre careful.

As for people saying the ride height should be the same when lowing it.

Thats why they only supply Lows in the rears of Magna's to keep the ride height the same.

to clarify the measurement is taken from the lowest part of the rim to the wheel arch. this way it is standard measurement.

If you have a receipt for 2" lower, take them the the cleaners if you have not got what the receipt says.

oh and he also said that they charged me a low price ($550) to lower it.

hey blaz. whats the name and phone number of this place? im gonna ring them and get a quote. when i show them i know what im talking about, ie quote part numbers, then well see how much they really charge. and its got nothing to do with the wholesaler. they should check their parts before installing them.
