Ok so im looking at what to do with my current TR that's giving loads of problems....http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36657&page=3
One option would be to change to another car. What are my options? I'm looking at $6k or below. Strange that I can get 3rd gen magnas from dealers for less than 6k (http://www.drive.com.au/used_cars/mitsubishi/magna/melbourne/detail.aspx?id=2853177&pg=5&pp=12&d=0&nv=1)...but not from private sales...
Hmmm.
Cheers

What is your prefernce?
Move up to a base model 3rd gen, or, stay in the family (were a dieing breed atm lol) and get a V6 2nd Gen, even KS Rada.
All can be had for under 6K, but all will have a reasonable amount of k's on them......Unless you can find a gem:)
Theres a few options, but what is your preference for car?

That's a 2.4L 4 cylinder, thats why its so cheap. Even though they are pretty reliable like the v6, it just doesn't compare power wise.
For $6k i'd buy a TS V6 in top top condition, you might be able to get a TE V6 for around that at a dealer, but prepare to spend more on fixing it up.
Privately you should be able to pick up a decent TE/TF under $6k.

Can i suggest that whatever you do, you take someone from AMC along with you that knows what they're looking at/prices. I dont want you to get ripped off again.

$6000 i'd be looking for a KS Verada if you must have a 2nd gen, or even a 2.4L or 3.0L TE/F.
Simple, the 3rd Gens are newer and alot more refined. And alot harder to break (but not impossible.

wouldnt pay over 4500 for a stock or near 2nd gen despite engines or what.... it'd definately be wiser to get a 3rd gen. Power, reliability, fuel economy...... i just like the shape of the 2nd gen n that better engines drop in...
Get rid of the 2nd gen.
Buy yourself a 3rd gen. If you cant find a 3rd gen for the price.
Get a Toyota Corolla, those things are pretty much bullet proof.

You should have no problem getting a 3rd gen for the right price. I recommend TF 3.0L... SWEEET!!!:P
