View Full Version : Shuddering at high speed

I've searched for shuddering-related threads but found nothing similar to my problem.
My car used to shudder at 160+kph which I reckon was caused by driving too fast. Recently my car shudders between 100-120kph while accelerating. When I release the accelerator it stops shuddering instantly. This is without touching the brakes at all, so I do not think this is a brake problem.
Any ideas? Thanks.

yeah I'd go with what the others have said.
Try the cheapest fixes first, a wheel balance and alignment would be the cheapest. Often tyres will become unbalanced as they wear down as the rubber isn't completely uniform.
Also if that doesn't fix it could possibly be wheel bearings?
A tyre might have also bubbled?

Probably an engine mount issue, although as already said, start with the cheaper fixes first.

Thanks. I'll try to get my car to the nearest tyre service centre. Is Kmart Tyre & Auto any good?

if you now someone with a hoiste put your car up check your front engine mount in between the engine and support bar thats where my bucks would be check for any little splits cause that little split is a big vibration at high speeds
