Hey all,

I just wanted to get a rough idea on how many people reset the ECU and any other information that i should know before doing it.

Did you have any issues when you did reset ur ECU?

Any advantages or disadvantages?

Why and when should it be done?

Any chance it will notice the difference between 98RON and regular unleaded?

Car is a TJ VRX

Thanks

Not directly, no. Magna's are not fitted with an engine knock sensor, therefore the engine ecu would have difficulty in determining the quality of the fuel. Some people argue that the engine may be able to detect some improvement though the monitoring of the o2 sensors and exhaust sensors but thats neither here nor there. So really you could potentially get better range but I doubt you will notice much of an improvement in power.

If you really want the so called advantaged of 98ron you should get a piggy back ecu system that has been manually tuned to benefit from 98 ron.

Otherwise I'd say just stick 95ron in it.

As for resetting the ECU, it would have been reset a few times indirectly when working on the car, however I dont really see any need to go and reset the ECU for the hell of it unless the car was running rough. I believe some of the guys have experienced issues with sloppy auto gear changes which have either improved or deproved with reseting the ECU, but I think in this circumstance the real inherent problem isnt the ecu.

I don't know whether your refering to reflashing the ecu instead, if so, I dont think MMAL would have done many, if any, revisions to the ECU programming.

all bases been covered above... D/C ur batter thats all u need to do lol ... and it does nothing to ur cars performance once connected

and if u wanna go down the path of a piggy backed ecu then i wouldnt advise it unless u have the mods to back it up other wise u may aswell just hand me ur hard earned $$$ and get nothing in return:P

+10 more to the unintentional resetting of the ecu lol . I never look at fuel consumption so i have no idea what difference it made. Gear changing is better for my auto for a day or two after, then it goes back to its sluggish state.
