ok, since my car going to be off the road for a fair while and EZ boy probably wont have the time to make come custom manifolds i was curious if there was anything u could do with standard manifolds?
like possibly bore it out more or something? ... though im gessing that would cause less pressure yes ?
reason im asking is since car is off the road for fair while why the hell not tweak it... i dont have the skills but alot of my mates do, i would ask them to just make a complete new manifold but dont really feel comfortable doing so as its such a big job and well they have lives to
so is there anything at all that can be done ?
no offense guys but only looking for information from ppl who know exactly what they talking bout and can give straight answers

*cough* *cough* twin throttle bodies *cough* *cough*
Seen it done on a VR's standard manifold. Dunno if it would work on a magna though. Worth a look eh wot?

if u want a new manifold, grab the one on offer from RPW. Thats $1000 and for the same money i would suggest his stage 1 cams and cam gears. would get more benifit from that

U guys are missing what im saying, the car is off the road for a fair while, so i wont have any issues taking of standard parts and giving them a tweak ..
is it worth playing with the standard manifold boring it out or chopping it up etc ? .. i wouldnt bother paying a grand for the rpw manifold, could get one made up much chepaer than that at ur local performace workshop, and i know i can get power from other mods ... but im just curious if there is anything that could be done with the standard inlet manifold..
not looking for 20000000kw's out of it just figure their may be something to gain from it specially since "any" week now ill have that 70 mm tb that ive been waiting for lol ..
im not looking to spend big money on the magna no more ... its only a magna and will be my daily once i have the sprinter and will be pouring all my money into that to get it track ready ... so i am looking for cheaper mods to do and not pay for massively overporced parts .
so assume i have or know someone with the knowledge skills and tools ...can a standard manifold be modded to gain more power?

Just some interesting info..
And looking at the calcs, there would be no real point doing simple mods on the manifold because the probable mods required would necessitate a total redesign anyway.
Anywho I dont know much....thats just a first glance

Awesome link. :D
Also I've only skimmed through the article and I haven't noticed this mentioned but while the car's off the road you could also take the head off and give the intake and exhast ports a polish :D

If that's for the calculations on the second page of the link, I think you use the VE that you want.

thought about it but as ive said magna is no longer my project car once the sprinter comes. I could get mates to do it for me but i really dont think its worth while cos ill have to start looking at after market ecu .. and increased petrol costs blah blah ...
... basically i got a 70mm tb and ralliart cams sitting there for me just have to hand over cash ...and ill wanna get extractors to .. all done " very cheap" dont see the point of spending to much more money in it ..
spoke to a mate yesterday and we said he will look into materials for me and he may be able to make one up .. we would just need to get someone to tig weld it and we be laughing
but yeah once i get the sprinter ill be doing the inlet, cams, port/polish.. the works so i dont wanna do it asll twice LOL ..
thanks anon .. u win "link of the year award" :D

I'm not sure what your effort/reward requirements are. But if you have time and want to spend some effort, here are two possibilities:
Port match the plenum manifold to the intake manifold, and the intake manifold to the head ports. I've done my plenum to intake ports, spent about a day on it including disassembly, port cleanup and reassembly. You'll need a die grinder, or rotary tool, preferably a carbide bit, and a sandpaper flapper wheel. I've no idea what it did for power increase, but it's a fundamental to make sure that parts match for improving air flow.
The other option is to make and install a throttle body spacer. Basically an aluminium spacer between the throttle body and the manifold, it increases the plenum volume by a small amount. I've seen one on my Jeep make a 1 mpg improvement to its economy. I can't say that I've seen one for a Magna, but there has to be a first.
