hey all,
I've had a search around but couldn't really find anything that could answer my question. Ok I've just installed my sub and amp in my boot and was wanting to hightlight it by installing some neons in there with them. My question is what is the best way to power the neons? I've seen some people saying attaching them to the powerline for the original boot light but I'm not keen on that way, is there any other options?
thanks in advance

i suppose you can wire it up to the tail light, so when ever you have the tail lights on at night they are on. but i dont recommend this as it means the neons could be left for hours on end

if you are prepared to run wires from the front of the car to the boot you could wire it up to the accesories wire from ure ciggy lighter and put a switch on it...

If it is only 1 Neon..
Run the Positive to the Remote Line on the Amp and the Negative to the Negative.. This way the Neon will only turn on when the Deck does..

because they don't use much power u hooked mine up to the cigarete lighter and put a switch in the cabin so i can turn it on and off as i please. that way whenever u take your key out of ignition its not connected no matter if u leave the switch on or off. (i'm bad at flattening batteries ) woops.

yea I might just run it through to my cig lighter when I get a chance, that seems the best for what I want to do, as then I can have a switch in my cabin. I'm thinking of running 2 or 3 in there, so would I need to put a inline fuse? or wouldn't enough power be going though to warrent the extra fuse? (sorry, I'm a noob at car lighting :P)
Thanks

yeah, you should always use a fuse....better safe than sorry. You'd be surprised how little current neons actually draw. you could use a relay if you were even more paranoid, but eh, u should be fine.

one final questions to do with neons, I've got my amp mounted on back wall of the boot with a small gap (probably about 1.5-2cm) beneath it, if I place a thin neon in that gap (the neons about 5mm dia) would the temperature from the amp be too hot for it or should it be fine?
thanks alot

well it depends on how hot your amp gets, have it going the way you normally do it, rest your hand on the casing of the amp say underneath it where u are going to place the neon, if you cant rest your hand on it because you are being burnt, id say don't put it there, if it gets medium warm i'm sure you will be fine, The neons are pretty tough, i'v had mine mounted next to amps before without any problem but then every situation is different.
