Hey guys, i have been having a problem for a while now and cant come to a conclusion. Sometimes and only say once out of every 6-7 times i start my car the idle will jump straight to the 1400rpm mark and can sit there without dropping for 10 or so mins. if i shift into gear while it is idling over 1200rpm it will stall and cant be started for another 30mins.
And this can also happen while driving. i will stop at the lights and it will jump to 1400rpm, then the water lightb appears and stays on for a good 20 mins aswell, sometimes it doesnt go away and the temp starts to rise. ive checked all my oils, coolants etc and had it serviced every 10 thousand k or so.

i have a 2.4 Litre Te any ideas.

Possibly the thermostat is broken / stuck open. To test, start car when cold, remove radiator cap - if water is flowing through the radiator when just started from cold - that's your problem right there.

Possible Tempreture Sensor Fault Telling the ECU that the Car is Cold, when it is Hot and Wacking the Auto Choke on??
