Which plugs are better for the front three

i.e.

platinium : like the back ones so we dont have to worry about for next 100,.000k

or

Iradium or radiaum : i.e. for aroung $20+ each ( dont know how long will they last though.

so what should we use in front????

Standard NGK plugs at $2.50 a piece. Don't need anything fancy, spending ridiculous amounts on spark plugs is the biggest waste of money on something that has least potential to gain power. You are much better off buying standard plugs (vary temp rating to your driving style), and changing them more often rather than buying $20 ripoff plugs that stay in your car for 100KKms and go stale.

I change my plugs myself on average every 15KKms.

RPW uses te NGK or Bosch range of either platinum or Irdium spark plugs and cannot complain.

We are using NGK platinum on the tiwn turbo project and they work great

Im a bit of a stickler for using exactly the part that the maintenance manual specifies. In the case of my Magna thats NGK and Champion. As long as I can get the correct part im happy. Went to super cheap auto looking for the rear platinum tipped plugs, they didnt stock either the NGK or Champion brands part no that I needed but the guy tried to sell me Bosch plugs. I asked him if it was an approved alternative part and he couldnt tell me. I thought it interesting that he tried to sell them to me though. Now I do not have a problem with Bosch plugs, if mitsu one day tells me that they are acceptable to use well Ill probably use them. In any case I have never noticed a difference in the performance of the car when I have replaced plugs. Im sure if I left them in there for longer than the 30 000km interval then yes they would invariably start to affect the performance. But Im curious as to why you are so negative towards Bosch plugs.

There is nothing wrong with bosch, Most german car makers use them. Champion I would not even waste my time throwing in the bin, over the years I have seen many cars come in to my workshop I had at the time dither not running or running like crap. I prefer NGK as a personal pref.

According to NGK, the 0.8mm dia Platinum and Iridium IX provide the same level of ignitionability and last for ages wheras the 0.6mm dia IX plugs last for 60,000km's but are supposed to provide beter ignitionability.

Got the Irridium plugs and can`t complain at all. a few aof my mates use them in theyre turbo cars and last longer and better power than the bosch ones. They are happy with NGK not with Bosch.

We use both Bosch and NGK in both the iridium and platinum and can't say we have ever had a problem with either.

Don't talk to me about Champion though  we have always had problems with them.

We stock both Bosch and NGK depending upon what stock is available at the time.

I am really interested to know why Champion plugs have such a bad name. Surely it cant be that difficult to build a half decent spark plug. I know that they are widely used in the aviation world for anything from general aviation (air cooled piston engines) To commercial jet engines. In these applications u cannot afford to have dodgy plugs. Is it a case that in the automotive world these plugs are made to a price and not to a particular quality level.

It is more of an experience thing.

We had a lot of problems early on with the champion range for which they very unsympathetic to.

We ended up having to pay out of our own pocket and as such we would not use a champion any more even if you wanted to pay me.

Not saying there current range is no good but I have not had any problems with the NGK or Bosch range (Excluding super 4) so will continue to use them.

The Super 4 range of Bosch I have heard of people having problems with them and I don't think its a problem with the plug itself but the compatibility with the vehicle. It is just not suitable for some cars simple as that.

i think it just comes down to chioce really or personally prefrence but has any one used the split fire plugs in the magna before ? if so any better than a std plug in a magna ?
