Ho'kay :P

I went and bought myself 2x Clarion PA-15S`s the other day, cant wait to get them goin, so now comes the time to box them.

...Which is where im absolutley baffled.

ive tried using winisd and the CAA box calc, and niether have helped much...probably because I have no idea how to use them..so if someone in the know-how could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Heres the trick tho...the maximum size of the box for it to be able to comfortably go in is:

Height; 13in
width; 34.5in

those are the only restrictions for now...but it still needs to be removable for access to spare tyre etc.. my boot doesent have the vertical cutout between the taillights like a magna does..so it will make things tricky

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks Guys

- Craig

Hey bud, i can definetely help you out.

Just needing all the thiele/small parameters that came with your subs.

Also:

1. What kinda music do u listen to?
2. Do you want a ported or fully sealed box?
3. What thickness wood you will be using?

Also, id prefer to do a ported box...but size restrictions look like im going to have to go sealed

Thanks :D

yeh, with 15's...

If u use a ported enclosure, the size will almost double!

I'll do some calculations... i'll see if i need any more details.

stay tuned.

Something's not right with the software im using...

The Vas value's don't seem appropiate for a 15" sub.

Do u think u can scan the spec sheet and email it to me?

Just PM me if you like.

I think that Vas Litre measurement should be 480.253.

With 48 litres, im getting recommended box size of .3 cu/feet which isnt right!

With 480 litres, the recommended box size is 2.9 cu/feet, which sounds more appropiate for a 15" sub.

yeah sounds a bit better..winisd was telling me it needed a box size of 5l :S

Yeh, i had a feeling something was dodge.

Most 10" subs are about those specs.

Most 15"s have a vas (metric) ranging from 200 to 500.

So 480 sounds more reasonable.

Your best bet is double check with the Manufacturer.

righto...so where does that leave me litres wise?

SideWinder

ok winisd now says i should have aan 82l box...sound about right?

personally i think it should be half that :S

Sealed. And just very rough working with formulas from:

http://www.diysubwoofers.org/sld/sealed1.htm

SideWinder

yeah 57 sounds more accurate

hmm, i'll check out that excel file from diysubwoofers.org when i get home from work (Where i am atm) and compare to the software i am using, and see what happens.

By the way, did the specs come with a recommended enclosure size?!

SideWinder
21-06-2006, 05:47 PM
no it didnt..but autobarn reccomended around 50l

onkytonk

Problems...

With all those specs,

Optimal box size is coming up as 0.29 Cubic feet which is 8.2 litres.

Both the diysubwoofer.com spreadsheet and my Probox software are coming up with the same box recommendations.

How are u getting 57 litres from those specs?

Can you save ur Excel file with the specs u are putting in, and send it to me so i can see what u are doing?

SideWinder
22-06-2006, 05:19 PM
well 57 sounds quite right...

ive taken one of the subs off laybuy, because ill never fit two 50l boxes in my boot and still have access to my spare

Ignore my posts. I missed a step in calcs. I get around 10liters too.

Although 57lt sounds way more likely, i don't know wtf i did.

Thank goodness

Thought i was doing something wrong, but i checked and double checked everything.

Anyways,

I've given him a design for a 50 litre sealed box. Hopefully it does the trick.
