When I went to Genie to get my exhaust done. Before final fittings, they
put two different types of mufflers on it so that we can have a listen and
choose the one I like. The first one they put on was raspy where as the
second one had a very nice deep throaty note. The guy said that the sound
produced depends on the packing material (fibreglass, steel wool etc), the
thickness of the muffler and the material of the muffler etc. This goes for
the resonator as well.

*confused aswell*

I thought the camshaft is per head, therefore you have 2 heads therefore 2 camshafts (one-per head), whereas DOHC engines have 2 camshafts per head?

Here we go (take note of the URL - www.womanmotorist.com), basically SOHC means one camshaft per cylinder bank to both open and close the intake/exhaust valves and DOHC/Twin Cam/etc means two camshafts per cylinder bank one for intake valves, one for exhaust valves.

A SOHC V6 has 2 cams, 1 per head whereas a DOHC V6 has 4 cams, 2 per head

to confuse us even more some manufacturers refer to there 2 cam per bank V6's as QUADCAMS. Which is tecnically incorrect.

Why is it incorrect? If it has four cams why can't it be called quadcam? It's not saying it's QOHC.

quadcams is just a marketing hype...like something to make the car sell...common people sometimes can be fooled by this, people think more cams = more power, but sometimes it's true and not, it depends really on how the manufacturer tune the car ie. ralliart magna with SOHC engine is more powerful than camry sportivo with DOHC/QUADCAM engine.
