Hey fellas

i got a problem with my 3rd gen TF magna. the thing is after it warms up to operating temps when i stop at the lights for example the car starts idleing at 1200 rpm when in gear if i put it in neutral it pushes upto almost 2000 rpm and i also get a weired smell like unburnt petrol i guess. also sometimes when i slow down and just before i stop the car goes into neutral by its self and then goes back into drive and i get a jolt as if i dumped the clutch at 2000 rpm (its an auto by the way) also after driving for about 1 hour the check engine light comes on but then goes off after about 5mins. Some days are worse than other sometimes it doesnt even happen. im due for a fuel filter change so could that be it? im also thinking that it can be a faulty O2 sensor thats not telling the car that the engine is in operating temps so it dumps fuel and revs higher. i dont know, please help.

cheers

i can almost tell you for certain that this is a steeper motor problem its on your throttle body a little black diode looking thing on the bottom of it with a fat electrical plug coming from it
try that its quite pricy for a new one but it will for sure solve unusual idling

oh ok my blonde well you may not have put the cold vacume pac together properly or something like that which is the dome looking thing check for any air leaks as from what ive found just the most smallest leak in a vacume hose can f**k it all up so those are what i think have a look

oxygen sensor... no, stepper motor does screw around with idle when faulty, but won't cause the transmission to neutralise.. so i doubt it! fuel filter.. no, it wont fix anything u mentioned! check ur transmission oil level, and i'd advise to get it looked at by a dealer who can check for fault codes! either way, doesnt sound too good!

Thanx for the tips fellas. The plugs look fine, I took it to Mitsu dealer he ran a diagnostic on the ECU and said it was a faulty temperature sensor, quated me $155 fitted, does that sound about rite? im willing to pay for it if it gets rid of my anoying problem.

Simple get the temp sensor replaced and if its still playing up get them to remove it there and then and put the old one back on. No fix should be no charge...
