... ok all who have the clutch shudder either between shifts or when engaging first gear for take off...
i could possibly have the answer...
i think that it is because of the unique flywheel that the TR TS 5 speed v6 has..
apparently it is a countersunk flywheel and the car is very sensitive to any "heat cracks" on the flywheel..
so the solution which i will be doing in 2 weeks.. will be to machine the flywheel... around $50-60
so please stay tuned......
yeah. that was sort of pissing me off all this while. be waiting for the the good news!
more often then not clutch shudder is due to dirt on the clutch plate, oil on the clutch plate or a worn clutch....But then again a heat cracked flywheel would probably do it aswell. ( i just replaced my clutch, mine was because of.....me  , it had worn faster than it should have lol , it cost me $400 exactly to get a new mitsu clutch, and fitted)
I have that as well, mainly taking off in 1st, and only when the weather is cold.

Will be interested in this too. Mine happens mostly on hardish take-offs but can sometimes occur at other times too. I always thought it was to do with the engine mounts - but the poly' ones are expensive :doubt:
I have a bit of clutch shudder taking off in first, had the flywheel machined and it's still there.
I know that there's something iffy with my master and possibly slave cylinders (leaking a little oil apparrently), however dialing out 2.5K on the ol' el paeso taco fixes that no worries.
I'd say that the TS V6 5 speeder likes a few revs to get going :P Also, more noticeable when cold. When warm, hardly noticeable.

well i will be machining on saturday,
also mine shudder in first..
with higher revs.. knocks on the front right.. (result of vibration thru to engine mounts)
however if take off with low revs... ie 800rpm and just let clutch do the work.. very minimal shudder..
so.. we will c by saturday/sunday
also a leaking or worn seals on ur slave and master cyclinders can result in the pressure plate fingers not being depress correctly.. resulting in slight shudder..
FYI anyone who used a PBR clutch in teh last 12 months..
there is a problem with the pressure plate fingers and therefore the clutch slips and burns badly..
symptoms.. lower taking point on clutch pedal (even when new)
vibration thru gears..
clutch slippage when cold..
solution.. replace the damn thing
i just had a bad clutch plate and killed it with 40000 kms...
the fingers were cracked and the pressure plate was burnt and scarred badly..(no fault of mine) normal driving.. told them something was wrong... they didn't believe me @ 10000 kms..
replaced ..free :)
new plate work great :) 3000 kms no problem.. and the clutch takes at the top of the pedal again..

yeah i've never had a problem either; alot of people's mounts are dead in these and also if the exhaust has room to move it can sound similar; all from experience...
Also when i pulled the gearbox off; dirt is able to get up from underneath... gears are sealed and so is the engine but yeah clutch, flywheel etc can get **** in there (from underneath), was a bit of dirt in there... no more grass/ dirt burnouts for me....

Engine mounts will cause this as well as contaminated clutch, worn clutch, burnt plate, burnt flywheel and pressure plate.
They get heat spots like brakes do
Another thing to watch is the pivot point, this is a common problem with both 4 and 6 cyl's, few if any mechanics check this. The ball wears as does the fork.
The flywheels on most cars will get surface cracks, it is very common especially if abused.
Another thing that can cause this is the lash springs in the plate becoming compressed from down shifting and not matching revs

OK..
took the flywheel off..
had 3 major highspots on it..as well as some cracks..
had it machined for all of 35 bucks.. put it all back in and clutch shudder between shifts is GONE!!!! YAY
if anyone has a problem with vibration when taking off in 1st let me know..i may know what the problem is
