If I push the front of my car down, i can hear a "pssshhhhh" noise,
Also sometimes when I go over bumps I get a clank noise, like metal on metal clashing.

I'm guessing the strut/spring is going?

I'm going to the wreckers to get some parts, ill find a magna with low k's and what should i pull out, just the whole strut assembly?

Dude i say its your shock obsorber seals making that noise.. I wouldnt be buying them from a wrecker either.. buy them new.. they are getting cheap now.. you can get them for $100-150 a pair new..:)

Is $150-$200 for the complete McPherson strut assembly? Is it for 3rd Gens?

I think he means a pair of struts only. You reuse your springs and strut mount.

My front kyb struts cost me $228 for the pair. My Rear kyb shocks cost $138 for the pair. That was 2 weeks ago.

I think standard magna replacements (monroes?) are a bit cheaper than this though.

psshhh noise is normal, clank noise it not. Your springs may not be sitting correctly.

sorry to hijack.
hey buffy just a question. yesterday i had the ball joints put in by the mech. now he said my struts wern't in right.
i'll decribe it as good as i can.in the pic u posted , on the top of the strut tower where u bolt up the top of the strut to the metal plate(very top one, not the one with the bearing),
now that meatl top plate, is there suposed to be a gap of say 2-3cms between the plate and the rubber ring around the top of the strut tower. or are they suposed to be snug agaisnt each other.
it was snug aginst each other and i have had no noises or anything to indicate somthing was wrong. so he said it was missing a 3rd nut and added one so now the plate sits up a bit.
i just dont want to go over a bumper and when the wheel drops down to follow the bump and the plate drops that few cm's and produces at least a clunk or down the track damages somthing. god dam im a worry wart but better safe then sorry i supose.

in my opinion the first picture is the right position
the second has way too much gap
on a tp i have never seen that much gap

are both the ball joints flush to the lower arm and pressed in commpletly

in the manual there is an adjustment you may have to do and also was a wheel alignment done for castor and camber ?

yea thats what i thought but try to tell that to a mechanic who knows better.ball joints are sitting in there properly i checked up on there work as soon as it was home. havent done a wheel alignment yet thats on monday. as for castor and camber i was under the impression u cant adjust the camber only castor. thats why whiteline sells a camber kit but dont quote me on that. as for when i got it back the wheel were squeeling going straight at 60klms and before i took it two them the wheel alignment was fine. i thought the bush kit has the same geometry and the factory rubber ones but im thinking now they dont as the wheels are way off.
