Does anyone out there know how to slow down the start up idle on a 3.5 TW to reduce engine wear on start ups - i would like to slow it down to 800 - 850RPM.

Thanks,
Maddo :booty:

I would doubt there would be a way to reduce the idle at startup and i dont know why you would want to. It is like that for a reason. If you started to mess with it then you would most likely produce more problems as a result such as maybe stalling etc.

There is no more wear on your motor buy the higher starting revs.

It isnt worth worrying about. There would be more wear caused by driving to the shops than there would be starting your car. It isnt even measurable and im sure there wouldnt even be any wear by starting your car.

Wouldnt think twice about it mate, and just enjoy the great car you have.

It does that so the engine warms up quicker doesnt it? so you dont end up driving around on a cold engine and do actual damage.

Yup, sure does.
You can adjust the idle screw, but keep in mind it will take longer for your car to warm up, and if you dont wait for it to warm up, will probably do more damage (though how many people actually warm their cars up these days? lol).

You don't want to adjust. You won't be causing any damage.

if u like to lessen the wear and tear its best to buy sum magnetic sump plug on ur engine and tranny rather than lowering the idle speed:think:

If you care about wear so much, use 10w-40 full synthetic oil in your engine.

And idle your engine for 30 secs after cold startup before driving off. :P

Spot on. I think car companies would know whats good and whats bad on startup as all cars rev high when cold.
