I've had this installed for about 6 months now, and have been to lazy to post any pics until now.

The computer is nothing special, just an old IBM space mate 1.2GHz processor, 256Mb ram and 20 Gig hard drive
I'm running Windows XP, and using Media Cruiser front end downloaded from mp3car.com
The screen is just a cheap 7" wide screen touch screen from ebay, but haven't got round to fabricating it into the dash yet.
And I'm just using a power inverter to run the computer off.
I'm still running the onboard sound card, which actually performs quiet well, with just a home made patch cable that plugs into the amps for my splits and sub.

Enjoy guys and girls!!!

does a carputer have to be a special computer or is a normal computer enough?

Doesn't have to be a special computer, I'm just using a normal IBM desktop.
The main problem is deciding how to power it, whether you want to use an inverter that inverts the 12volts from the car to 240volts. Then the computers standard power supply converts that back to 12volts(which is what I've done) or if you want to buy a power supply designed especially for use in cars such as an OPUS which is a DC to DC supply.

www.mp3car.com has lots of great info for anyone else considering installing a Carputer

Hey I like, where did u get the skin for it? Do you plan to use it with GPS and map navigator stuff?

Think this would look good in the new Verada. Whats the quality of the screen like?? did it have a pc input or just svga?

Yeah, its got a pc input, as well as svga, and av inputs. The quailty of the screen is really good. its the same as the touch screen you can buy from jaycar.

I intend on putting sat nav on it once i get some spare cash to buy the gps reciever and the maps, and I made the skin myself.
