Just about to book car in at Pedders for springs/shocks on 03 TJ sports... can someone tell me the differences between the rides for each (stock - comfort - sports) I am still debating on just lowering it or getting the shocks - right now I think the shocks will be a goer - but then want to work out if it is better to go for the sports ones - the car is the 'family' ride so I do not want it to be too stiff but want to notice the difference... what do you think?
Also chrome grills - are there any available for sale or do you have to 'do it yourself'?

Mate if u have the money get the shocks aswell as the springs. as the aftermarket springs will ware the factory shocks eventually!!! apparantly KYB shocks are a good choice for a decent price. do a search there is a lot of info regarding aftermarket shocks etc.

I had new lowered springs and shocks put on, it's a good idea to change both.

The Monroe Sensatrac that were fitterd to mine are apparently a progressive rate damper. i.e. the more you compress them, the stiffer they get. Not recommended for lowered springs.

Told the Tyrepower guy this, but he dismissed it as crap.

The ride is hell harsh. Looking at getting Monroe GT Gas, which are better suited to lowered cars.

EDIT. For chrome grill, look at Verada models.

I have a KE Verada that I replaced all 4 shocks with Monroe GT Gas on the recomendation of a suspension workshop. I was a bit wary, as the last GT Gas shocks that I put on a car 30 years ago made for a very harsh ride.

Well I was pleasantly suprised as the ride is still supple but with good control. Glad he talked me out of the Sensatrac shocks I originally enquired about.

Last month I installed a Whiteline adjustable rear sway bar and the transformation is complete - comfort and handling in a family car.

I had the Sportsryder shocks put in.
If you go to the Pedders place you'll see several shocks set up with handles that you can pull.
The manager recommended the white ones as being a step up from stock for magnas.
I went for the next step again - Sportsryders.

On teh open road and through the corners, the car is really firm and feels solid and glued to the ground. Bumps that once cause the car to wallow are gone. Along bumpy rides where there are peaks and troughs, the car no longer feels like it is a boat - no sea sickness here.
Around town, with stop start, with harsh bumps (speed bumps) expect a few complaints - even I get sick of being rattled around in my own car.

On Corragated roads :P the car skips along the surface quite nicely, in place of that horribubble rattle that destroyed my tape deck!

Has anyone got the sensatracs on their car???? I am interested in these myself. I had them on my old VC commodore and thought they were great. And so far as the no good on lowered cars bit goes, you can actually buy them in a shorter strut/shock to suit the lowered cars..... Cant quote me 100% on that for magnas, but i did replace std height sensatracs with shorter ones on the dore.

Thanks for all that I think that helped... I was offered a really good package deal for springs/gas sports shocks (brand ???) and sway bar so think I will go for that and get it done right the first time... none of the messing about goin' back fixing it up later that way...
Thanks - i am so keen to get this happening now just have to organise time to take it in...

What you will find is that Pedders are actually Monroe GT Gas painted red. Not that i'm knocking Pedders as i ran them for a while and have a good mate who works for them. No problem with them other than the bump stops being made of foam will de-teriorate quickly if you lower your car. But yeah seriously go the KYB's and some king springs and you will thoroughly enjoy your new ride. Then you have to look at a few little pieces here and there like camber kits & Shim kits so that you save your wheels from scrubbing out. And if your going to get shocks and springs then you may aswell get a strut brace ($150.00 from Pedders-still have my loyalties) and do your Sway bars. Get all of this done at once and you save yourself some dollars (labour)doing it seperately.
