G'day,

This is a first time post for me on any websites so I hope I get the feed back I've been told I would!

Lets cut to the chase, I'm a Diesel Mech by trade and I have been asked for help by a friend of a friend. He has a 1998 Verada, I believe that is a TF??... any way the list of mods and work is huge.
All 4 wheels bearings, rear swing arms replaced with new bushes etc, handbrake possible hydraulic conversion.
Full manual conversion, Clutch and Brake Pedals, Clutch mater cylinder, Hydraulic Clutch lines, Fly wheel, Starter Motor, Shifter and cables, Drive shafts and new clutchfrom Xtreme clutches
Engine Rebuild….Replace crank and bearings, new pistons, standard 9:1 replaced with ACL 10:1 from pajero, stage one cam, valve springs etc, oil pump, all seals etc, ralliart heads to be fitted etc etc etc. Plus all the little extras along the way.

The reason I've posted this is to ask if anyone has done these things themselves before and did you run into any problems along the way? Any other ideas you've got whilst I've got the donk so stripped or have you done similar stuff... how'd it go. Also to maybe help others out as Ill place photos and references as I go for people to see. If you have any advice or tips, remember I am a mechanic so I'm not stupid just haven't done this specific job in full, I'd love to hear from you. Pls no smart ****s or time wasters. Especially intersted in people that have done the auto to manual conversion. Cheers... Lovo!

Looks like your on the right way with the engine rebuild, using pajero pistons e.t.c. Few guys who have donw auto to Manual Conversions here, not as simple as it seems, but it is possible. Just do a quick search, and you should be sweet.

Good luck with your new little project your undertaking

Welcome, sounds like an impressive list of mods getting done

i dont really have much to add apart from the fact that what aftermarket engine management are you goign to use? coz you will def need one, im sure greddy or haltech piggyback will be fine to use. Also if hes gunna do these mods (and i kno your not stupid and he prolly isnt) look into doing your intake/exhaust coz even tho its quite a good stock system it still needs to be looked into

AFAIK from what ive read the auto-manual conversion isnt that hard and a couple of guys have done it on the forums, plus i think a couple of them have tinkered with a ralliart head too, the rest i wouldnt kno about

not really helpful am i lol

ahwell

sounds like alot of fun, good luck with it

A member by the name of Jasons VRX has extensive experience with rebuilding the 6g74 engines for big N/A power, so I suggest firing a PM to him if you have any specific questions. There are also 2 other members who have had High Output NA engines built by a workshop in Alice Springs called Street Torque.

As for the manual conversion, it has probably been done by almost half a dozen 3rd gen owners now. A member by the name of Asylum (and possibly one other whose name eludes me) had hands on involvement in doing the conversion on his car. Unfortunately that's all the help I can give you because I haven't had any personal experience in either area.

Best of luck with your search for information, and with the project. Would love to hear updates of how it is going.

hey ive just finished a manual conversion about 2 weeks ago, for the job its not that hard. Hardest part is gettin your hands in the footwell to bolt the clutch and brake pedals to theb floor, haha. as for the other stuff wouldnt have a clue, but i did the conversion myself so know fair bit about what i did, any questions feel free to PM me and ill try my best to help out,
Cheers,
Trav.
