hey everyone,
over the past 5 days i have been slowly installing my new system. The only thing left to do is wire up the neons and LEDs in the boot, and then i'll take some night shots.

GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE!!
The DD and the Fluff :D looks good. WHat sub is that and is it just me or does that port seem awefully skinny? What size is the box and what's it tuned to?
i reckon i shoulda done something like that....i have like no boot space for groceries n stuff :(

That looks hot, I should really post pics up on mine that I just did.
Eek my slot port in only 25mm wide but 364mm high. Depending on the length I would say that it is tuned low 27-37Hz.

Looks sweet. Just as a side note, when I was working at WOW Sight and Sound I found out that the DD car audio gear had the biggest mark up in the store. Some of the speakers were marked up 300% with staff price being about $150 for 6x9's and selling them for close to $500. :doubt:

Pfft mine looks crap. Its still not finished. Will have to take a night shot. Need to do the metal edging thing but will paint it black so that all the attention isn't on the chrome. Also need to tidy up the cut out for the boot supports.
Eek what are those round things next to sub on either side. It makes it look so retro 70's..... :bowrofl:

gold lol
i have a few dieas for a custom boot install...but alas i have no sub....i might just do it anyway
the two big holes are ports :P
the white panels are just trim panels, to cover up the gap between the box and the side of the boot. I didn't want to cut trim panels with circles in them, coz i know they'd never line up perfectly with the sub hole and port holes. Plus if they do, it would change port length as well...so i decided to cut them out as curves.
the fluff is well....sexy.
thinking of either perspex amc///qmd logo to go somewhere, or a disco ball from jaycar. i still need to sd the boot area, and maybe a trim panel to go in under the boot lid....
btw, here's a night shot :P

How did his amp blow?
[TUFFTR]
02-07-2006, 07:08 PM
We dont exactly know, it blew before he saw me, so i dont know how, but he was listning to it, only like 1/5th the volume...then changed track, and bam no bass
hes wired the sub up to his 4 channel and the sub still works, so its not the sub, all fuses were working, and he even connected the amp up to the 4 channel's power + earth and didnt work.
we connected it up to a 12V battery @ jaycar, went into protection mode for a split second then that light went off too, so something is wrong in the amp

Yes well trying to run anything DD of a Jaycar amp will do that.
How come he spent so much on the sub and nothing on the amps? Silly boy. Just a question, how is he running the sub of the 4 burner?

No he was running the DD Sub off the jaycar 1500W Mono, thats the one that blew
he just quickly hooked it up to the 4 channel to see if it still worked, which it did.
its a $600 amp gee it aint THAT cheap

The 1500W amp will cope with the DD fine.
Did it have a strong smell? Cause could be the caps. I just returned Jakes for him as it no longer works and smells like caps have crapped themselves!

He should have put his money toward the DD mono block for $599.
Silly boy. :bowrofl:
geez, each to there own. The DD is a great price for what it is, but jaycars arent all that bad. You gotta remember that you only hear the negative stories, and there is a crap load of jaycar amps out there running perfectly (if not a little noisily).
I personally dont like Hertz subs, which shows that every one has different opinions.

Yeah, mine smelt a little wifffy :)
That said my old setup (AMP(2x150wrms) and 2xcs2228 subs) is running great still after 3 or so years ish :)
.. but not in my car damn :P
