What would you guys be recommending...?
Pioneer TSC-160R (http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/car_entertainment/speakers/tsc160r/index.html)
or
Soundstream LS60C (can't find a linky)
I can get either of them and just undecided...
Listen to pretty much anything other than R&B, dance, or rap. :)
Cheers.

Yeah yours are pretty good...
The ones in the link are the newer model of yours....
But the 130WRMS for the soundstreams is tempting....

How much of the frequency of normal listening is between 20kHz and 32kHz?
The Soundstreams only go up to 20kHz...

I dont think people can hear anything above 20 kHz

Go the Soundstream, I've heard nothing but good things about them from those who have got their equipment.
I have soundstream. They are fantastic A++

Your very correct. A 8 year old girl would probly be lucky to still hear 20KHz and our hearing only gets worse as we age.

Pioneer is still a quality brand guys, alongside Alpine they are one of the good quality commercial brands that have their entry level gear and their high end gear.
Soundstream gear is great as well, but they have their cheap stuff as well.
Im running picassos at the moment and cant complain.
Dont worry too much about frequency response, if you want a fairly good measure of low end extension look at the resonant frequeuncy (fs) (lower the better)
20khz is considered the limit of human hearing, although my supremos play up to like 50khz, all adds to the harmonics.
Most people over 30 years old can't hear above ~16khz.
Get what you pay for.
In terms of these speakers; looking at the specs -
The soundstreams are more sensitive 92 compared to 90 so will get louder of less power
I would take a stab and say the soundstreams will take more power as well as the pioneers only have 60 w nominal, although don't read too much into that
Pioneer states the freq response is down to 25 hz, but look at the resonant freq it is only 66 hz, so you wouldnt want to play them any lower than 70 hz.
I'd go the Soundstreams, but there's many other options out there so don't limit yourself.

Awesome! That's what I wanted Tim, some reasoning as to why... :D
Cheers for all the replies guys! Great help!

my pioneer splits, although marked as 60w nominal, are hanging off a bridged 4x100wrms response (>150wrms each channel)... they are thrashed day in day out, no problems what so ever.

How much is your amp turned up though??
my pioneer unit max volume is 62,
by about 53ish they are on the verge of distorting
they are loud cos my other amp seems to be much louder at a lower gain... so the response amp's gain is significatly higher. also, the speakers are set to HPF, they handle more power (well maybe not so much handle more power, but certianly go louder without distorting) without the bass going to the woofer
