I meant to put this post here but put it in the 2nd gen forum by mistake (seem to always get better responses here)
Now im not sure if theirs much that can be done about this one.
All my gears are fine, going into D and through the gears, but sometimes when I put it into reverse its like its in N for a couple of seconds then grabs real hard. Im sure you all know what im talking about.
Found something in the book called the neutral-reverse control valve, it says it prevents harsh engagement when its being changed from N/P into R. Could possibly be the culprit?
Anyone had experience with this problem and fixing it?
EDIT: think it may of had some harsh engaging going into D today.

How does the ECU control the gears, as in how does the ecu stuff up to make the reverse problem happen?

orh, so your not saying the comp is faulty, your saying if one of the electronic parts on the box is faulty, since its connected to the computer, the computer will show this on an test?
I thought you were saying the comp it self was playing up, thats why I got confused.
by the way, how do I give the trans a flush? Do i just drain the oil and put in new stuff, or is there something else I have to do.
Thanks again.

Yes Magna buff is possibly right Ascencion, although the best option if unsure is to take it to a good, and I emphasize GOOD, Auto Tranny expert, as you may chase the problem, but it can cost an arm and a leg if you eliminate problems by replacing parts or pulling it down if don't have to! Using a multimeter, check for continuity in all of the connector plugs going into the tranny on the car end not the transmission. If you have any doubts, get an expert opinion.....believe me....It's worth it!
First of all, the ECU does not control the trans directly. There is a separate TCU which
controls the trans.
Does your problem occur when going from P to D? It could be a problem with the diff. My
old KS had the same problem both from P to R and P to D, eventually found out (the hard
way) that it was a sign that the diff was stuffing up. It eventually rooted the trans.

Gave it new oil, (genuine mitsi oil)
Same thing still happens, only happens when going into R (and only sometimes) never when going into D.
