Well, my car has been running strangely for the last 3 weeks or so. idled fine, but during accerleration, it miss fired. But car still pulled quiet well. So anyways, i bought 6 new NKG Iridium plugs to replace my existing ones.
I haven't checked them in around 55,000km, so i think it was time. One plug was broken, and the pressure from the top rubber connection rod is what kept it all together i think.

ANyways, the picture explains why the car has been running ****.

Was the top one broken when you unscrewed it?

If the points are blackened, that's normal. If they're excessively fouled with soot or oil, then your car is running way too rich.

when i pulled out the rubber connection rod, the top bit was stuck to it. So yeah, it was broken for a while i would say

All those plugs look dirty. I'm running NGK 3967 BKR5EKB-11s with the twin electrodes. A bit longer than the stock plugs so probably not recommended with a high comp engine.

I've never understood the theory behind these plugs. Obviously, the electric charge is going to find the least path of resistance and only jump to ONE electrode, making it essentially a regular spark plug. Eventually over a period of time, it's gonna wear a nice path in one electrode and not use the other one at all.

Marketing BS?

:stoopid:

But yeah, the spark plugs were dirty and rusty. Also noticed engine oil on some of them. Which isn't good either. I did notice that there is too much oil in the engine, so i will have to drain some.

Yeah I just changed all mine over to platnium plugs on my 90,000 service... I did the timing belt and water pump etc at the same time.
