Does anyone have plans/patterns for a false floor to fit in a TE's boot.

I've tried making them but I think it has to be done by trial and error because the floor of the boot is diffirent from 3"s up off the base of the boot where I want to make the false floor.

it really wouldnt be hard, except you would obviously loose your spare tyre.. (depends what you need the false floor for.. to hide stuff under?

just grab a big piece of paper and trace the outline of the boot floor out. transfer that to a mdf sheet. Then attach some legs for it... cover and presto?

you could make it level with the boot lip or id suggest an inch below the lip level so stuff doesnt come fling into the boot lid.

I'm making one at the moment for my TJ boot. I'm using fairly chunky box cardboard as my template, which started as an outline of the boot carpet. The cardboard is stiff enough to hold its shape so you can spread it out in the boot to check the clearances. Trim as desired, then trace onto MDF.

So long as you've got a power sander or jigsaw handy you can make any final adjustments after the MDF has been cut.

yeah, i kinda made half a fase floor out of 9mm mdf i think. just got some cardboard and traced that, cut out a 'bigger' version of it on mdf and slowly trimmed it down. The main concen i came across was how to support it above the spare wheel area, coz i had to cut it down the middle there, otherwise i couldn't get it into the boot. i ended up putting pieces of timber under it going horizontally across the cut. Oh, and some door hinges.

This is my false floor. I made it out of 12mm mdf. I traced the original carpet, cut out the shape and then cut the sides off to make it fit.

The first photo i have access to the spare. This is when i only had 1 sub and the box dropped into the gap at the back.

The second photo i dont have access to the spare. I added another sub and the hatch is about an inch to small to get the spare out so i now just use it for extra storage.

After i got the basic shape it is just trail and error to make it fit.

I hope this helps you.

hmmmm I've been meaning to do this ever since i bought my jigsaw a few months back. Im on uni holidays for the next 3 weeks so now is as good a time as ever!!

Its just to clean my boot up. In its current state i pretty much dont allow anything to go in my boot. I'll be making a door for the spare wheel too.

What have people covers theirs with? the original boot carpet?

i had a false florr for my KE verada, would of sold it quite cheaply but its not destroyed as it was taking up too much space.
Just use trial and eror keep shaving till u get the perfect fit, i had a carpenter friend help me do mine so it was accurate not even a 1mm gap from the sides.
If your putting amps under the floor, make sure u ventilate them, best done with 80mm pc fans which will cool your amps nicely, acts like a mini air con for the boot in summer too

hope that helps
cheers

I just went down to clark rubber and got some plain black carpet from there. It cost me less than 20 bucks but doesnt cover the whole floor. Only up to the sub box.
