Hey all..

I've recently purchased a set of 18x8 rims for my car. I am unsure of the offset as i purchased them 2nd hand, but they were previously on a magna. The question is... will i be able to get a 245 under/in the rear guard of a TH Magna? At the moment with a close to empty tank, the tyre on my 15" steelie sits just out of the guard, nearly in line with it. When i have a full tank of fuel, other people in the car or on the day the car feels like it, the tyre sits inside/under the guard on the rear.

I would like to chose a 245 wide tyre so that it actually protects the rim from an off chance with a gutter. That and it obviously has a larger surface area on the road meaning more grip.

Cheers all!

p.s. i'm lookin at gettin a set of Hancook Ventus K104's for i have only hear good stories about them.. any other suggestions? looking at a budget tyre with grip!

I bet you it was that set that went for $400. I wanted to buy them as a spare set.
You always get in first, damn you for living on here

your best bet is to get a tyre shop to put a 245 on one of the rims and try it both on the rear and the front and see how it sits.

I don't see too much trouble with fitment (as long as the offset is right) but if your really worried, roll the guards and cut out a bit of that plastic on the front guard like thedifference has done.

why not get a tyre with flange shield/rim guard like the dunlop sp3000a? they come in 235/40/18 95W. a larger surface area doesnt always = more grip. u get less pressure over a larger area the tyre doesnt dig in properly especially in the wet.

I have 17x8 with 235s on em, and I have no probs in the rear, it is the front that scrapes with lowered suspension. Especially on hard cornering.
So I dont know how you will go with 245s ???
