View Full Version : TL Towbar
Gday,
I after any advice to purchasing a towbar for a TL magna in Mel SE suburbs. Have been quoted around $500 supply from the dealer for a genuine mitsub towbar and have been told they are not worth the money.
Can anyone suggest where to go for an aftermarket unit or where to pick up a 2nd handy in Mel.
Cheers

Just look up the yellow pages for a heyman reece installer. Gee, for $500, you can get a heavy duty one installed.
Wouldnt pay more than $300 installed for a standard one.

Recently priced a Hayman Reece in Bris. If towing much more than 1000kg, they told me I would be best with heavy duty, about $600 including elec's but would need weight distribtion gear, another $600 odd, and recommend transmission cooler, another $200.
Standard tow bar and elec's fitted was about $450

How easy is installation? Any welding?
I have a verada so the bumper sticks out further than the magna so would there be any cutting involved.

The towbar just bolts up to the chassis - 4 bolts either side...
Wiring harness plugs into an already provided connector in the boot.
Quite easy really... Not sure about the bumper on the Verada though, shouldn't require cutting.

I had a tow bar installed 6 months ago so I could attach a bike rack. Mitsubishi (the one near Knox City Melbourne) quoted me $500+ from memory. I ended up finding a local place that deals with Hayman Reese parts and were able to fit it for just over $300 I think.
Visit the below website and click on Stockists on the left.

Anyone who's interested... It looks as though I will be getting some towbars for other AMC members. If anyone is interested, please PM me to show your interest.
I will be finalising and shipping out towbars this week.

I got my 1600kg square hitch supplied and installed for $300. It was ATB (Allan Tow Bar
here in Adelaide.) They are aftermarket but the Mitsu Dealer where I bought my car from
uses them. Mitsu charges $100 extra just for going through them.
As for Veradas, they cut a square slot in the tow bar so that the square but sits half way
in. Thus it sits lower and angles up.
Do a search for tow bars. I've posted a pic of mine recently.
