I put the car up on ramps (TR 4cyl) just now, got under and the rear engine mount is kind of just above and to the side of a CV joint (I think its the cv joint)

It looks impossible to get to, how do you get it out?

Also do I need to support the engine when I take out the rear mount?

Also is the tranmission drain plug a big FLAT head just side of the pan?

Thanks.

if its like gen2's it'll be from above; timber across the sump and jack it up till it lifts the weight off the mount; undo the bolts from above then slide it out...

The tranny drain should be even with the lowest point of the tranny... and a bigger bolt than any others one it about 22mm or something, yes it's pretty shallow

in terms of position the engine mount is well above the driveshafts and inner cv joint... there's a piston which i never new about that you might be confusing the mount with... it looks like a pnuematic shock or something....

Yeah I know the piston you are talkin about but I am talking about the mounts.

I can get to the engine mount bolt and undo do that, but that just releases the engine from the mount.

I need to remove the mount from the chassis so I can replace.
The bolts holding the mount down to the chassis are what I cant get to.

If i remove the air box I can get to 2 of the bolts on that side, but I cant figure out how to get to the bolts on the other side of the mount.

Its a TR 4cyl.

um especially on a 4 cyl i'd think you'd be able to reach around the back from the passenger side to get the bolts...
