went to some place (not our usual mechanics) for a few check ups on my old mans truck, first he goes the brake pads might be on its way out, the guy ended up finding faults in brakes cylinders, stll half of pads left. he reckons the brake cyclinders? are all leaking? so change 4 of them 120x4, machine the 2 wheels 88x2, and new lubicants etc..to a grand total of $1050  thats just for the front.

we let him fix the things, coz he goes its very unsafe to drive with the things leaking, he goes he wouldnt drive it even if you give him the truck for free.

We went there previously and he reckons my magnas brakes feels spongy wanna have a look at it too, i told him off.

Now i wonders whetehr the guy has taken us for a ride, it certainly feels like it.

Don't be to hard on em for parts but labour $400 odd dollars ouch how long did it take.
My reasoning.
Are you talking bout drum brakes cause that's the only way you'll have 4 wheel cylinders and if they were leaking onto the shoes (pads on discs) they also should be changed regardless how much meat left on them + machining drums and fluids, so if they were faulty he's done the right thing.

I'd be asking for him to give you the old parts back to takeaway,
so at least you know he's done the work.

My "favourite" mechanics are the ones that will let you HELP them work on your car too.
Very rare these days, if you find a shop that does - treasure it.

yeah they are drum brakes, he said they were leaking, but when he open the wheels up its all dry, its only when he put a screw driver in it leaks a little bit, and i think its only 2/4. yeah but we didnt like the way he went to find the problem, he first told us the pads are low so we let him open up and check it, and theres more than half of them left, then he find that prob... anyway we went back to the dealer, he said "if the fluid doesnt leak out then it should be fine" + he also reckons if it does have prob he could do it for a couple hundred bux.

yeah definately, our cars are serviced by our favourite mechanic, never have any problems with them. But unfortunately their workshop arnt big enough.

the reason we went to this guy is because he said he do trucks too when we visited him last time with our cars. (i didnt go back to him ever again, because i was unhappy with the power steering job, but my old man insists on him  ), anyway might not go ahead with it. As the truck was bought 2nd hand from a dealer might go see them about it first.
