Guess it will ultimately depend on offset but apparently they will ...

At first I was gonna say Noooo! to white rims on a black car... but then I saw the example car  and it looks HOT!
I think it's the polished lip/dish that makes it work.

Yeah they could look good, but why the wider rears? If anything, you want wider fronts. No point in getting wider rears on a front wheel drive

For no other reason than because deep dish looks the goods.
Without the dish i wouldn't even be considering these rims.

Unfortunately yes ... see: http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/cgi-bin/cgi2/english/sizeGuide.cgi?modelName=R01
Oh and you have to pay extra for the centre caps, which are an additional 2,000 - 3,200 yen depending on which ones you opt for.
Dont get white rims mate.
As good as they look on some cars, check out a few people around the place with white rims.
Due to brake dust, dirt, grime etc they will get stained and look pretty crap. White rims are very very high maintainance.
P.S I love white rims, but just dont have the patience to clean them everyday!

90% sure they will fit!
Seeing as M4DDOG has XR rims on his Magna..
Give Tempe a call and see what offset they are.. That'll concrete it!
35 - 38 offset and you should be sweet as!

That means it'll sit 2mm in..
Ask the guys about clearance from your strut plates.. If you can get your hands onto a BA XR6 rim chuck that on and check the clearance.. If you have ample room, than +40 is fine!
I'm pretty sure it should be fine! I have a set of 18s on the KJ and they're a +40 with no rubbing.. The KJ is lowered on SuperLow/Low Kings and KYB Shocks!
Take a look at this pic!

It explains Positive.. Zero and Negative Offset's.. That should be all you need to understand offsets.

I say go for it. I'm sick to death of silver/chrome rims, it's great to see something a little different. Another option you might wanto consider is bronze rims, they also look very nice with a black body.
I myself have bronze jap rims on my saphire blue TJ sports - oversized wrx anyone :p
The aforementioned LENSO FT-5's are an example of a nice looking simple spoked bronze rim, my favourite kind of rim :)
Funnily enough, I have vague plans to get my bronze rims repainted/power-coated to white down the track, if I feel like a change. Although the impracticality of white rims does put me off..you really have to clean them constantly or they look nasty. That's one advantage of going bronze, if anything a but of brake dust and dirt makes them look even better, as long as you aren't standing too close

Tempe seem confident that the 9.5" width version won't fit on the rear of a magna. I can only assume that the offset musn't be right.
Guess i'll just have to go without the extra dish/lip and with the money saved invest in a spare...

Attempted to fit the new rims tonight and stopped before even getting the nuts tight on the first one. The offset on these 8.5" wide rims appears wrong or not as good as it could be... we measured a huge 4.5cm of clearance between the spokes and the brake caliper!
So in short there appears to be some serious room for improvement (more dish to be had) with the right offset, hence I'll be calling Tempe tomorrow to see if I can get it sorted out. Not to mention the tyres on the rims have the wrong load rating for a Magna too.
Oh how I wish I knew that these local Perth guys sold the same rims...

I found out afterwards that they are very likely a tempe distributor. Not only that it turns out I actually may know the guy who runs Tech9 through a mate of mine. The guy's name is Scott and I believe he used to own/run Sungard tinting in Myaree and he tinted my Magna.
I'm going to see what I can arrange through Tech9/Tempe this morning and hopefully I can get this sorted!

bob_saget
07-12-2006, 03:59 PM
off set if how far forward or how far back the spokes of whatever sit in the actual hoop of the rim, but yes spoke design can also play a part in it, - 've offset will sit further back in the rim giving more dish/lip, + 've will of course do the opposite
