hi! i want 2 put an ignition button in my car n am wondering if i can do wat this guy did, http://www.crxchaos.co.uk/starter-button.html
basically he wired the ignition to the alarm, so he can switch on the ignniton with the button on the alarm. so is it possible to do this with the factory magna(TW) alarm system?
thanks.

Pretty sure you can only do it if the key is in the ignition.

well it would just stall wouldnt it
dont see why people leave cars in gear, i dont even put the hand brake on unless completely necessary.
and he still has to press the red START button for the car to turn on, the ignition is just enabled with the alarm remote.

I could see a remote starter being both good and bad, first of all i could only see them being safe on an auto where it won't start in gear, it'd be nice to on a freezing cold morning be able to start the car from in the house whilst all the doors are locked so no low life can just walk up and drive off and when you are ready jump in and be able to have the heater working straight away ect, on a downside i could also see myself getting sidetracked and forgetting i turned it on or playing with the keys turning it on by accident, then getting smoked out as the garage is attached to the house.

there are some alarms that start up the car for you too. but to do this would would prob have to bypass the key barrel?

i hav an auto so leaving the car in gear is not a problem for me. wat im wondering is if it is possible so that i can switch the ignition on/off with my alarm? so like wen the alarm/immobiliser is disarmed, ignition swithes on. this way i can get jus get in the car n press a button to start the car without putting the key in the barrel.

Just be aware that the majority of insurance co.s probably wont insure you if they knew about the remote start.
Regards
but your going to have to put the keys in anyway other wise the steering lock will be on.
but i think it is a cool idea, would look cool walking up to your car to have it start as you go to open the door

you could just spend the money and get a fulli sik alarm system with pager remote and remote start. i know a friend who has that on her celica. its a good thing because her car is parked in the sun all day at uni and work, so just before she finishs up at work, she just hits the start button, the car starts and the air con starts up so its nice and cool by the time she gets to it.
you can even get it to put the windows up and close the sunroof for you. very very novalty.

yeah, it is illegal... in qld anyway. makes sense i spose. your supposed to eave your car (manual) in gear when unattended, and remote start would just make it bunny hop everywhere... hahah lol
Its illegal in Aus. See ADRs.

my mates riced up toyota soarer has the remote start/etc thing, unlocks the doors, windows down, or engine off, etc etc. nice toy i guess, but once you've seen the feerrari enzo's buttons, everything else is meh, i mean really, the dask board in the enzo has a 'race' button.. now thats what i want!
:P .. i allready have cool lights on my dash that say 'cruise' or if im feeling racey, the other one beeps at me to tell me to 'speed' lol :-) :) :)
my other mate had a old madza 121 '85 or something, the rear dimister light did nothing, but it really di dlook like a Nos buttoin, and when iever i pressed it, he made wooosh noises and went faster pmsl.. yes, i know, im tired :-)
