i would probably make a hinged flap for it to sit on and screw it into the dash underneath the middle air con vents on that little platform....thats the ONLY place i can think of it to go

yep, sell the PS1, get a PS2 for $188, probably even cheaper now....get a screen off ebay for $130 or what have you = good fun and easy to install

btw to run the PS1/2/3 you will need a power inverter, i got mine from jaycar for $90 and you will need a few meters of 12ga wire to connect it to the battery:)

what does the power inverter do and why do u need it?

lol you try pluggin in your AC playstation power plug into the battery and tell me what problems you face :P.
The car runs DC 12v, and while the PS is probably 12v DC anyway, you need to use the playstation AC adapter which requires a power inverter. There's probably a way of modifying the ps power pack to accept the cars power, but i wouldn't mess with it if you dont know hwat you're doing.

240VAC while the battery is 12DD numbnuts LOL

so this bumps up the voltage while converting it.....

was pretty simple to hook up, + on the inverter goes to + on the battery, and - on the inverter goes to - on the battery, then, turn the inverter on, (plug the PS2 into the socket duh) and turn the PS2 on.

Its actually quite handy the inverter....as well you could use it for camping and whatnot

lol numbnuts the playstation will be DC. I just checked and it's 7.5v DC, the power lead that comes off the playstation converts 240v AC to 7.5v DC, so basically you're converting from DC to AC to DC again. So you probably wouldn't be able to skip the inverter as the playstation will probably blow up with such a high voltage.

Or with a little research you may be able to skip the $90 inverter and use a $2 voltage regulator...
Should be highly possible with the right research, need to find a source of a 7.5V regulator (a quick search shows Jaycar doesn't have 7.5V, but they do exist...)
Regulators take a wide range of input voltages and drop them to a steady output voltage. I'm using 5V regulators to power PIC microcontrollers, they spit out a steady 5V from an input of anywhere between say 5V and 12V...

Or you can go the "prebuilt" way, and pick up something like a car discman power converter, they usually have a range of outputs including 7.5V, and may only cost you say $20...

Best bet would be to find a more dedicated PS1 forum.

Hmmm it's a playstation one! Wouldn't it be better putting in a PS2?
Playstation one is a bit outdated now

Hmmm that's true, but most of them use the cigarette lighter and use very little current, would it be able to cope with a playstation running through it? Only one way to find out  .

nah i think i got 1 of those sorta i got a chord that plugs in2 the cigarette lighter just cut the eind off that and attatch that 2 the battery! that would work :bowrofl:

I hope you just worded that wrong or you're kidding, you'd melt the wire :P.

ill do what my mate did and permanantely attatch it to the wire in the back of the cigarette lighter like junction it!

would that work u know more than me!

That's awesome!
That would be your best bet getting one of those. You can then cut the end of the cig lighter (be careful not to stuff up the box that's attached to it) and then run a direct link to the battery from the end of it. The only benefit of that is so you can hide it.
