Car has started to bounce laterally, feels like shockers but they've done 70000km's, is that all they last?
Have tried bouncing the car at each corner but because of the springs it's hard to tell if it's the shocks or not, she stops after 3 bounces.
When I replaced the last pair they were totally shot, but still couldn't tell when bouncing, but when they were out of the strut, there was nothing left in them.
Feels exactly like last time but with only 70000km's on the shocks with moderate driving am hesitant.
What do you reckon??

Car should only bounce once shouldn't it?

Yeah car should only bounce once. But the shocks should last longer than 70,000kms. (unless its a ford!!) From my experience with Magna's i reckon they should last closer to 200,000kms.

Have you got lowered springs in yours? This will cause the stock shocks to stuff up prematurely.

Standard springs and Monroe shocks.
Hmmm......might have to put her in somewhere and get a diagnosis.

I reckon you should buy some Kyb Shocks. 3 bounces is way way too much. And 70,000kms IS in the realm of replacement (especially for some aftermarket shocks). Some people leave shocks on for a lot longer than they should and think they are okay but shocks can fail in more ways than one. General softens (Bouncy bouncy effect) is one failure mode but slow shock rebound is another. (Trampoline effect over speed humps)

[QUOTE=kempeowen]Standard springs and Monroe shocks.
As far as i am aware, Monroe are the suppliers of OE shocks. If you do the trainning course they will tell you the car should bounce no more than 1 1/2 times, and replace shocks in as little as 40000kms. bit much to ask i reckon but hey...they move alot more than just about any part on the car. might just pay to have checked. if it is bouncing three times like ya said, get em replaced.
