Yup should do...my 7x10s only just didnt fit under the standard grill because they have a sapacer and a big chunk of plastic holding the tweeter up over the cone...damn stupid speakers
I would think you should be right with the pioneers.
Ahh, if you are going to buy them, make sure the coil isnt too big.
I bought a pair of Cadence 6x9's.. The coil/magnet was to big and hit the little bar that connects to your boot lid.
I then bought some Kicker and had the same problem. SO i made some spacers and raised the speakers 5mm and they fit in cosily.
Now i cant decide on Kicker splits or cadence splits...

I bought Alpine 3 way 6X9's sound very nice, quite high sensitivity and fit perfectly under the stock grills, using the stock mounting holes and screws - sweet :)
Worthwhile upgrade, and not too expensive.

6x9's should fit no issue - i have Boston Accoustic 6x9's and they just touch that bar as mentioned above
no issues at all

The bars in the older molder magna's had a bend to fix that issue.. No such thing exists though for the TJ.
