Hey all, Im just wondering how many of you would be interested in white dials for your 2nd gen?

They will come in 4cyl and 6cyl, Auto or Manual, and will be white, with black lettering with a black ring around the speedo and tacho

These come on like matt finish paper and you just cut them out and put them in.
Who would be intersted?
Im looking at $20 a set delivered anywhere in aus?
It'd be a great cheap mod for those who dont have alot of money to spend on there 2nd gens, and also good as you dont have to spend hours making them.

Im going to keep it to one layout just to be simple, check out slyts6's alloy rings thread for more pics.

Just the Kodak Picture paper For when i do it at home, but since both my printer suck *** atm, im having to get them done at the printers

sorry Leigh wont work on a 3rd gen cause the light shines through the dials :rant:

these dials are awesome! certantly brightens up the dash, and gives you the option of using UV globes/ neons in the front to make them glow purple!

fitting is very easy aswell.

So on the 2nd gens the lights are up the top in front, and 3rd gens shine from behind? Could use thinner paper, or even cut out the gaps manually (would take a long time though).

on the 2nd gens, there are 4 T10 globes that shine from the back, illuminating the numbers in that crappy yellow glow.

and there are 2 T5 globes on the front, to show the needles

are they diffrent from 4cyl to 6cyl? if so make me a 4cyl set :D pwetty pwease :)

The only difference in the 4cyl ones is the speedo, so yeah if you have a 4cyl i will give you the according speedo.

Ok ive sent out a few PM's to those interested.
These will also come pre-cut so all you have to do is slide em in.
Should be good seeing some modded Dials now:)

yeah id be interested as long as theyre not that hard to fit, ill prob get those circle dials as well, ill talk to u on msn about it

Ill be taking some pictures tonight on how to remove the cluster and install the dials, if anyone else is interested throw me a PM anytime or even an email.

Also, you will have to remove the needles to do this, go to www.fastmagna.com and go to tech tips, theres a guide on here on how to remove and install the needles successfully, its a pretty straight forward job, mine have not had any troubles so far!

Try and avoid touching the dials with your hands as they may have dirt on them, try and handle these like a cd and grabbing them by the edge, just to save any mishaps..

you Can touch them justtry and do so with minimal crap on your hands

Ive also got silver and Gold metallic paper, ill print them out on this paper for $25 a set if anyone is interested, would look nuts on a silver or gold car...

I took out the original dials though, so have to take out the bulbs behind cluster. Prefered it this way.

really? i found by taking out the orignial dials TOOO much light shines through and just looks crappy...why did you take them out may i ask?

for lights, you can go with t% replacement LED's but these give a very narrow band of light....if your keen, grab yaself a 20cm thin neon, these fit in the space to a TEE and give a much more even spread of light.

Once I take out the bulbs from behind the cluster its all sweet, did it mainly for the power button light, overdrive light and hold light, as they now shine through the back.:P
Remember I have a Verada model.
I did have a cold cathode tube to go in it, but put it in the TE.
What amazes me is how bright the cluster now looks, the wifey loves them, there so much easier to see.

lol nothing much will work, ive tried a red neon, and a red LED stick, also some T5 UV LED's....i think the UV neon would work best, but it says not to use it for more then 3 hours at a time so im stumped

But i saw something like this at EMTECH They are white faced and have a really nice blue glow with the lights on. Thing is there like 8 times the price.. about $280 i think a guy said :(

I'll be producing these again, They just need to be touched up.
When i mean touched up i mean microscopically made perfect in photoshop. these are only very very rough, little imperfections everywhere.

By the way those guages look very very classy TuffTR. Wasn't at all interested in getting white guages coz I thought they looked pretty sporty but on my Verada interior with woodgrain I thought it wouldnt suit. I am very undecided now. How did you get the needles and such black also???

Was thinking about starting to print em off again
$20 posted anywhere in aus pre cut.
And just in talks with another AMC member about making one off custom ones for another $10+ per set.

I'll print off another set and whack em in my non-chrome rings cluster so you will see how they look.
Cause the rings make it look 50x better then standard

I have already expressed an interest in getting the white dials but if there is anyone that might be interested in making more of the chrome rings please let me know also as I am pretty keen to see how they look in a non-woodgrain cluster.

Just read my post and its a bit confusing, although I may be interested in white dials, its the chrome rings which I really really want and I think many people are after too. Someone has to be handy with this stuff around here!

Took slyts6 about 7 hours to make each set by hand so i dunno whos willing to put that much time into it:P

i should have started selling these a while ago now, but i lost my 4cly set. oh well i may have to do some 3rd gen sets. he he

Yeah i have made one but unless you have steady hands and that panel doesnt see much direct sunlight its pretty much fail.
Colors fade bad under the sun and to get the holes perfectly cut out are a bitch.
not to mention all backlighting goes, but yeah, it does look sweet

this is an old photo of what i did to mine 2nd gen when i had it (AC Part anyway)

another top addition to addin white dials is to get the needeles done red.. makes a huge difference. i just got red permi marker n clolored over the yellow.. looks racey yet classy at the same time,.

If you've got the stock dials with the dash rings i REALLY recommend getting the 4LED T10s for behind the cluster to light it all up white (or whatever color but white looks best) and replace the needles with the white rada ones.

Looks classier
But i like my white dials because people are always like how much did that cost you!?!?! and when i say $0 they are like :O ORLY

Esentially the same as yours just the surround is painted white too and the needles are black correct? At least I can't spot any other differences.

I know it looks awesome and all (which it does) but i think this is a solution for most 2nd gen owners to have some sort of fancy dash without forking out hundreds
