Hi guys/gals,
Im new to this forum :)
I have just picked up a 99 Verada, it has the cd-stacker stereo, however no stacker (or magazine) in the boot...
My question is, are they a proprietory stacker system or can I put a third party brand stacker (such as pioneer/clarion) in boot and play through the stock stereo??
Any help or tips, will be much appreciated!!
Cheers

Also some are in the dash aren't they? Try switching to "Stacker" mode on the headunit and see what happens.

Thanks guys, however there is definately no stacker in the car.
I just need to know whether I need to get a replacement "Mitsubishi" stacker or use a Pioneer or Clarion?
Cheers

ok fair enough,
you could probably get one from mitsu but yes you can definatley get an aftermarket one.
My mum had an Alpine stacker connected to the stock unit which works by tuning in to a frequency in the stereo. They also usually come with seperate small display to change tracks and discs.

No stacker will directly connect to the stock headunit. Only the mitsubishi ones. So, you are better off buying a aftermarket headunit with mp3. That fits more music on one disc that a 6-cd stacker will...... unless you get a stacker with mp3 capability.. hehehe

If you would like to wait a month or two I will be taking mine out...other than that it would have to be a genuine part I think...you wouldnt be able to find anything with even the same connectors, Id imagine.
The alpine stacker mentioned before is an FM modulated one, most of the larger manufacturers have them. Its getting harder and harder to find stackers at all, with MP3 decks floating around.
Just a quick note....if ur an audiophile you would probably avoid the FM modulated decks..as the frequency response through the FM band is not as complete as a normal signal from a CD player at line-level.

it shoudl eb under your passenger seat.. if not, take it back to where you got it from and tell them to get you one, as it was claimed in the list fo things that came with the car.
