Just been having wild ideas floating around my head and i realised that it wouldn't be hard to pull off a supercharger setup for $1500!
See, remember those old Toyota MR2's that were supercharged... well that supercharger can be had for minimal costs and after looking in a mates engine bay who has one of these supercharged engines i realised it also wouldn't be that hard to mount..... total cost... maybe $300 for a good example.... some can be had for less than $200!
Next, adaptation of the manifold and mass sensor and induction tract. Well, asking a few people who have done these conversions (supercharger... not just onto a magna but supercharger in general) it seems that $700 should get you a mounted supercharger with all pulleys setup!
Finally, a new ECU piggyback computer would be the final item going for about $600 second hand.
Thus bringing the total to $1500....
Now someone tell me in crazy before i start making a savers account for this :P

your crazy....
I back you too topsecret.... YOUR CRAZY!!!!
hehe....
All sounds well and good, but just make sure you do ALL of your homework before you start ordering bits n pieces... also give RPW a call and see what they say... www.rpw.com.au
Id make sure you get all legal and insurance questions out of the way, and see if you need an engineers report, that report on its own could be worth in excess of 2grand!!! so dont assume anything.... you best bet is to give RPW a call and talk to David.. he can answer all your questions.
having said that, YOUR CRAZY :P

I disagree with the your crazy comments
I think it can be done, but reliability would be thrown out the window i could imagine...
I think 1500 is pretty unreasonable, 2500 and you could get the job done (barely).

i would be lookin at spending between 3.5 and 4K to get all new gear and professionally installed - but yes - that is on my mind as well - i dont like the idea of the TT setup as much as the S/C setup but either way - it sounds nuts!!! but again so does TT!!
hmm, i dunno!! all to hard!!

Fitting one of these would be like fitting a huge restriction to your motor without any gains. These little items from the 4A GZE are maxed out at 100kw at the wheels. 6G74's make around 100kw at the wheels already.
The larger units - 1G GZE max out at around 130kw at the wheels. There are kits using this one for 3.8l V6 Commodores for around $2500 (Including chip, brackets, etc). They have a heap of bottom end but no top end. Magna's already torque steer like crazy down low.
So, do you want to spen $2500 to get an extra 20 kw at the wheels? Your decision. :)

Thats a very good point, i've changed my opinion, i wouldn't bother.
RPW dropped thier super charger system as gains wen't as good as expected.

i was wondering y i hadnt seen the S/C for a while at RPW - but then again with a TT project y would u bother with S/C's??
oh well - maybei keep the TH as the pimper!!

I luv the idea of forced induction (also mivec). Superchargers do not have many upgrades later on down the track as turbos do...and youll easily get more power out of a turbo.
Back in 2002 saw a brand spanking new XR8...stock looking beside KILHSV plates...
drove past us and it was the best sounding engine ive eva heard...d suppercharger was winding up sumfin horrid!!! it was so nice...he left d car park we where in, dropped it and it was all ova d place...best sound ive eva heard!!!

The manifold mounted supercharger kit we were actually offered and can make available any time fo the day.
But consider a manifold mounted supercharger has no ability to intercool and as such - its like having a turbo running 7 - 10 psi with non intercooler. Don't need to be too smart to realise that the engine life is not going to be too long.
Water injection etc is all band aids to the basic problem - compression creates heat and heat creates detonation.
That is the reason why we stuck with the twin turbo project (Coming along very nicely) and to be followed up with a single budget turbo system for future customers who want a very basic system only.

As i said, they were crazy iteas.
What about twin supercharged? 1 charger for each bank of 3 cylinders with a twin chamber intercooler like that off the 300zx or Supra TT? *drifts off into wild thoughts* :P

whats the point of that? The air has to go into a single plenum anyway and it would be super $$$
