Hi there,
I recently bought a 2001 TJ Magna advance sedan and i have noticed a problem with my front passenger window. When you close the door with the window up (they are electric) the window doesnt fit into its rubber seal...it kind of sits outside the lip of the seal. Enough to let water and a weird whistling noise when driving. However when i lower the window and raise it, it fits in perfectly to the rubber seal. What i want to know is...Has anyone else had this problem? If so what did you do to fix it? One of the reasons the magna looks so cool is because of these windows!
I hope someone can give some suggestions...thanks.
kinda looks like its goin too far up ?
take it to an auto elec or a dealer and get them to adjust it

:stoopid:
looks like your over winding !
the rubber seals are quite big on the tops of the windows, so you dont need to go up that far !

ive noticed that if you slam the doors relativley hard it can cause the windows to pop out just like this.. mainly with front passengers..
is it doing it when you close your door just normally? try closing it as gently as you can..
could also be you window wanting to go up too far.. try an auto elec..

well i thought about that at first but after comparing it to the drivers side window it doesnt seem to be raising itself higher than it should. Could it be that the rubber seals are too old? Oh well it seems ill have to go to a dealer for this problem.

Unlike my passengers  i have tried closing it gently but this does not seem to help. No matter what i do (apart from lowering the window before the door is closed) it just always sits out side the seal. Why is it when you have a nice car your passengers always seem to slam the door?!

it's all in the adjustment, it took me about an hour to get it perfect on a ralliart not that long ago, was a masive pain in the ***,
basically you have to adjust the front and back of it, when you close the door at the last minute it steps up under that seal so drop the back downa tiny bit and lift the front section slightly, or take it to mitsu and get them to do it

Thanks, yeah well im not that confident in taking apart my door so it seems that i should get a dealer to take a look at it.

they should really do what all frameless windows should (and some) do..
ive noticed on audi TT soft tops and the peugeot 307cc's that have frameless windows, the window drops about 1cm when you pull the door handle.. so it lowers itself out from under the seal before you pull the door open, and when you close the door, the window goes back up again..
the only gripe i have with the frameless windows is that you can hear air comming in at 100kp/h+ around the tweeter panels where it doesnt quite seal properly.. other than that, i love em..

if you read my post you would see where i said the drop down as you open them,
watch carefully next time you open your doors, if the didn't drop down slightly you would blow more seals than a female walrus on crack

Well thanks for all your advice, i think ill check out a dealer and ask them how much this will cost to be adjusted. Tomorrow ill watch my window to see if it drops down before i close it.

or try Windscreens o'Brien or any other glass replacers too, they should know how to do it.

this is a Magna hey, not a BMW or Audi lol

I've noticed that with 3rd gens, at the back of the "triangular" bit where the wing mirrors are attached on regular cars, is the rubber sealing for the window.
The very top of that are usually split, when passengers regularly wind up the window to its highest position with too much force. Predictably, this is a especially common issue for models with fast glass.
The cheap (and free!) solution is to manually do what they do in expensive cars: lower the window before you open the door, and wind it back up when it is closed. This shouldn't be an issue at all if you don't have power windows. If you do, then it can be tricky especially when you have a front passenger: either forbid them from touching the window switch, or get them to exit on the driver's side :D
Cheers.

As i said before, my magna has power windows. Im pretty sure that this window just needs re-alignment and so i will think about opening up the door myself or getting my mechanic to do it. Its so annoying to constantly raise and lower it if someone gets inside or outside my car.

i had that with my drivers window, but i noticed that my door card is a lil loose so it gave the window some movement when it was shut against the rubber. hopefully the problem is way fixed by now for ya mista
