Ok, this is from the tech torque section http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37686
and I was asked to put it up here
It's a guide to change the shift direction of the tiptronic transmission for my TL AWD VR. you can read the whole thread by clicking above. there are pictures there too.
here All right. It's done! easy as pie! 1 hr tops to complete.
and here's how to do it for a TL VR AWD others will be similar I guess.
1. follow the instructions on removing the floor console (section 52A - Interior) from the service manual that can be downloaded here:- http://www.thehammer.net/magna/
2. hop into the passenger side and you will see all the microswitches that control the tiptronic (see pic1) under the gear leaver. don't be fooled by the pic, they are called micro switches
3. you simply need to swap the white and the yellow wires. In my case I had to solder them.
Initially I tried to remove the left and right micro switches but in the end it was not required . There are 2 springs not pictured that make it easier if removed.
Note: carefull when removing the center micro switch (pic 2)I broke one of the locating pins off and had to araldite it back in place, lucky I didn't loose it.
4. (pic 3) shows the job finished with the screws in place and ready to go. (I know it's a crappy pic. bu it was dark out and the cam didn't focus too well.)
Those with big fingers, like me, will struggle a bit. get a small set of pliers and it makes it a lot easier.
THE VERDICT
How it should have been produced. I no longer need to think about which way I need to push/pull and it makes driving a hole lot mor simpler and more natural.
A must do mod. especially cause it doesnt' cost anything.
now to find a new + / - bit. any help would be appreciated
