the rada doesnt have the parkers on the headlamps itself but on the side corner of the kit....

It then has fog/driving (still trying to work out the difference) below towards the bottom of the kit....

You can wire the foggies to the parkers by splicing into them... but then you wont be able to turn them off when you want.....(police issues)....so therefore you need to wire them to a switch....

if you still want to wire them to the parkers then you just do the splicing job without any fuses etc etc....

OK. Lights on Verads (and all magnas) in the lower bar are fog lights. They are a wide throw, low to the ground and sharp cutoff to avoid dazzle from back reflections.

Ignore the above poster!! No, you cannot wire it to the parkers for two reasons:

1) You cannot use fog lights when there is no fog - it is considered inappropriate use of lights, and it is a $75 fine. They will fine you too - if you cannot turn off the lights, then it is a defect. It will cost you money to clear.

2) If you were to wire them up to the parkers, you could possibly burn out the wiring and you WILL burn out your headlamp switch - the low and high beams are rated at 55W X 2, and so use relays. Your parkers are 10W, and don't use relays. If you use 55W X 2 across the switch contacts, you will create a lot of heat and possibly a fire. You will kill the switch quickly, and may have to rewire part of the car.

This is undesirable (note the use of extreme understatement).

To wire the lamps correctly, you must wire a feed from the parkers to a relay (as there is a legal requirement that the fogs can only be switched on when the parkers/mains/highs are on, never on their own) and another to your switch (this can be an earth return to the relay). Use this relay to switch the fogs from the battery. Fuse this wire or use a relay with an inbuilt fuse holder (bosch make these - best thing since sliced bread).

Brackets on Verada foglamps and Exec/Sports/VRX are different - verada is topmounted into the bar supports, exec etc. is mounted where the front 'ducts' are.

yes i stated that you will end up needing a switch for the fog lights in the end....... as it is illegal to have them on if theres fog......

wiring staight to the parkers? heaps of ppl have done them that way..... you may be right on burning out the wiring....didnt realise that one....will see how they go......

I'M A REBEL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have bar lights/foglights/driving lights whateva the f**k ya wanna call them wiried to parkers,

anyway i have had them wired up to the parklights for 12months if not longer and have not had a problem yet, in qld everyone drives with there bottom lights on, it's just the qld way ( lazy and laid back):bowrofl: no police issues as of yet even going through rbt's

HOWEVER it is illegal and you shouldn't do it !!! you should wire them as heath young said

that is all

The reason I said not to wire them up this way was that the guage of the wiring is insufficient to carry enough current - 10W (Roughly 1A) as opposed to 110W (roughly 10A) going through wiring that is really only specified for not much more than 5A, and through a switch that is not rated for the current... Not a bright idea.

It would be also interesting to measure the voltage at the terminals of one of the bulbs when they are both on - a 2V drop on a 12V halogen bulb equates to a ~50% reduction in light output. So your foglights won't produce much light, but I suppose the bulbs will last a long time...

Its no skin off my nose how you wire it... I was just trying to help :doubt:

I assume, hope, that when people are saying running fog lights off the parkers they are simply taking the relay trigger or switch power from the parkers and not running the whole light from the parker. Mind you, I have seen this done before, except it was for a pair of old 130w spot lights run off 1 high beam wire. Heath is dead right about the rewire bit, although in the example I mentioned the rewire extended to a new car. As an aside, for god sake don't put higher wattage or those HID look globes in your fog lights. It's a complete waste of time, not to mention annoying as hell when you aim them UP thinking they are driving lights!

As an aside Heath, any idea how to set the fogs up so they turn OFF on high beam? I saw a mention of how to do it some where but dammed if I can find it now.

Easy - use another relay that breaks the parker relay feed (dpdt) that runs off the high beams.

Hook up the primary relay (foglight + battery switch) in series with the C and NC of the secondary relay (HB turnoff) - when the high beams are on, the NC is disconnected from the C breaking the circuit (until highbeams are off again).

This isn't normally done with the stock setup, but it does make sense as you don't want a bright foreground when using highbeams (reduces your long distance vision)

Thanks. Sounds like a good idea.
