anyone got anything cool for ideas on dressing up the engine bay a little? injection/sparky's covers/shields, tubing, anything to otherwise make looking under the bonnet worth taking a photo of?
.. unless somehow theres a supercharger kit appearing lol.

blake's old VRX had one of the neatest "stockish" engine bays around i think...
does your car have the standard black engine cover? that hides most of the ugly injector gear, and also a battery box if you dont have one of those either... other than that, shiny intercooler piping and turbos etc always stand out

Personally I think the engine bay of Aussiemagna's VRX (R.I.P) was the finest piece of engine bay dress-up I've ever seen on a magna.
have to agree that blakies one was nice n bling hehe
this is my engine bay, not too shabby

From memory he had the plennum and front (possibly back) rocker cover HPC coated, which is expensive ****. Looks like the "TH Smoker" or early style RPW CAI piping and assorted other plastic bits have been spraypainted blue as well as the strut brace mounts, and various wires / vacume hoses have been replaced with blue ones.
Nothing major (apart from HPC coating the plennum and rocker cover) - but a fair bit of work involved in pulling all those bits out and painting them.

High Performance Coating. Put simply - its a form of ceramic coating, which in motor vehicle applications is most commonly used to offer some insulation to exhaust components but also prevent corrosion and improve flow friction.
Yep I think that about covers it

yummo! nah mine does not have the black cover over the injector gear, 'ive been told' only vrx's etc had those as standard.

damn thats a nice bay!
cool some very nice looking bays there guys! i had a quick look into mine the other nite but theres not all that much that can be done imho on the quick, like tidying up wirelooms/etc, but that blue/silver one there looks mad!
MODern ENGINEuity's i reckon came up real well, the white highlights it real well.
moparcm ralliart's is just horny!
black beard, i never noticed that stonkingly impressive blue phat pipe, is that off to a cold air box or something?
Meh, nice air filter buddy :-)

That big blue piping is part of the RPW CAI kit which relocates the Pod filter and MAF sensor to behind the passenger side fog lamp hole.

one of the coolest mods ive ever seen and also the hardest to describe is one i call a "ugly **** shroud" basicly if your any good with sheet metal (were talking highschool grade metalwork skills here) you can make one.
In the attatched pic. you basicy make a piece of flat sheet metal that goes as deep into the engine bay as possible without fouling any moving parts (marked in yellow). with cut out chanels from edges of the piece for hoses/cables/wiring. mock it up with cardboard first so you know how far certain wires can be stretched, tied down or bunched so you can have the minimal amount of cuting. you then secure it with either a few tack welded brackets to the body, pop rivets or if your not a fan of the idea of permanently marking the body a few small brackets onto out of the way items with a small drill hole and bolt. (do not use glue as the glue might deteriorate under engine bay temps)
once you have the verticle piece cut to the right size down into the engine, cut it so it clears the bonet when closed (again cardboard), when thats nice and done cut another section of the cardboard out to match the dimensions of the red area on the picture. you need to consider several things here
*do you have a strut brace
*do you intend on getting a strut brace
*how much F$%king around do you want to do for checking fluids and stuff.
the best possible way of mounting this setup that i can think of is not to use hinges at all. but wingnuts and a few bolts welded to brackets. marked in blue (incredibly crappily drawn diagram included)so that when you want to check brake fluid and wiper fluid you can just give the wingnuts a quick spin and lift the cover off. if you use shortish bolts and dont mount the cover too high you should be able to remove it even with a strut brace in place.
my suggestion is to cut out around the strut tower as marked in green so that you wont interfere with a strut brace or anything.
Of course if you never intend on fitting a strut brace, go for your life and cover the strut tower.
***
Bracket description key.
Red - cover
yellow - verticle piece/body location
Green - bracket (shape may vary)
Blue - The bolt
Purple - tack weld
white - wing nut.
***
you can have a cutout for the flud resevoir or not, your choice. The best thing about not is that you can use the top of the cover for your "shopping list" and people dont get to see it unless you want them to.
Id combine this with a battery box, a EZ-Boy pod box and a polished (or chromed) CAI pipe. get a truck exhaust specialist to knock one up for you. Personaly id wrap the Intake in colored heat wrap so that the metal doesnt absorb the radiators heat.
Any questions. please direct them to someone else, writing and drawing that took me an hour :Phttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v177/delphia/engine.jpg

Please note peoples, Blakies CAI piping is NOT the RPW product
It was the very expensive K/N CAI kit made for the FTO, Fitted to the magna by RPW, before they started making there own kits. Intake was HPC coated, front roacker cover was polisehd silver, Blue silicone hoses, and metallic paints for everything else. Pictures just do not give it justice, end of story :D
