i have a te magna 96 altera. is it normal for the auto to roll back on steep hills. also on cold starts it makes loud sounds when reversing and when it comes to a stop in the [d] position. usually stops wen warms up. wats the problem. plz help
Normal and has been covered before :D

Any car will roll back on a steep hill as it overcomes the power of the torque converter pushing it forward.

The rollings is normal, and disconcerting. None of my old cars did this to anywhere near the same extent as the magna. The AWD box rolls on any surface when changing from D to R. Sucks when doing 3 point turns on busy roads, with a crap turning circle. Don't know about the loud sounds in reverse, hopefully someone else will fill you in on that
