i took mine off on both sides and i put them both back on, cant remember having any problems though, no idea what ur talking about now, i did it at the beginning of the year, and i only did it once to each but i think maybe u should check that the mirrors obstructed as it goes back in

i mean the actuall mirror mirror not the whole assembly, on the back of the mirror theres to prongs that are wider then the hole becuase they are being pushed out by a metal clip.....so you have to make both of these prongs smaller and get them in the holes...ill take a pic tonight to see if anyone can help me but ive already searched the gregorys manual and the workshop manual and just says "installation is the opposite of removal"

umm Paul those clips arnt supposed to come off  there should be rubber boots which seals out the dirt. if its wrecked then dirt gets in and the mirror will seize.
u have to unclip them from the mirror and put them into the body, then clip the mirror back. a REAL PITA!

Bad Luck dude, hope you didnt cut yourself. :(
May I suggest just buying the entire mirror and housing assembly next time your at the wreckers.......may save you the headache again and shouldn't be much more than the cost of buying the mirror on its own.....

yeah i used a towel underneath = no cuts
if i buy the whole mirror assembly, that just measn i have to paint it again, which means the mirror has to come back out which means im back at square 1!

There are 2 different mirrors fitted to the TR. One can be disassembled and one cannot. I found this out the hard way when somebody broke my mirror.
If it is the one that can’t be taken apart you have to buy a whole new mirror.
The way to find out is, when you take off the back plastic cover, there are 2 screws near the window side of the mirror. If there are screws then mirror comes apart in 2 pieces and you can repair it.
The ones without screws are glued together and technically can’t come apart. I did manage to prise mine apart with great care and then just screwed it back together.

So your TR is a non-standard colour??? hmmm, if so your kind of stuck, best to try to get one that is able to be dismantled.....
