well i went out today and got some quotes to lower my car...
1- king springs lows.. installed - $430
2- king springs superlows at front and lows at rear... with monroe gas shocks all around plus allignment and balancing for $935
im leaning towards getting option 2 ... but its pricy.. but i hear that if you dont get new shocks the car is always gonna bottom out....which equals bad...
and if pimp booya is reading... what do u think of your monroe gas shocks.. as i believe you have them...
suggestions , comments ... cheers...

definately change the shocks. i found that lowering without changing the shocks doens't keep it as stable around corners as much as i'd like, less bodyroll, but still not as stable as i'd like

i dont care to much about performance though... mainly looks... but if i get the springs in then later want shocks im gonna pay double labour fees.. thats the problem

It's a safety thing too mate. I recommend you change shocks when you lower your car.

You know I got coil overs? ..... right?
I had to adjust them on the weekend fo rthe crusie so I didnt bottom out .... (I should have made it aliitl bit higher :D
Haydn
Oh and Redav ... coil overs is what I have onthe front... smaller springs that sit on a threaded base... that you wind higher/lower.

I've heard you can get away without replacing the VR-X/Sports shocks when lowering. I've had Kings Lows put in all round in my car and haven't bottomed out once.. but then my car was only 12,000Km old when I got it done so there should be plenty of life in the factory shocks yet.

(sorry to hijack the thread again)
BOOYA, was it decided that your clutch is slipping?
Is that why you didn't seem to be able to get those 200 ponies to the ground at MM?

Yeah, thought so. I know you were adjusting them on the previous cruise at the BBQ joint.

I love suspension stuff - there is so many different types to go with and everyone swears their's is the best.
Anyway
Firstly - to keep it safe (Killybilly) do it properly, do springs AND shocks.
Second - since you do it, do them all one go to save costs.
If you want to install Monroes, only use GT Gas. Unless you want to drive around like a Granma.... Pedders Sports are not much more expensive, but step better. European stuff like Koni and Bilstein etc are excellent - but dear.
Simply - like tyres, the more you pay the better they are (well....)
It's easy for people to say buy this and buy that without considering the other guys budget.
Your Q2 looks pretty good to me.
And, considering the strut bar etc without changing shocks sounds odd to me. The shocks are more important than strut bar.
Bit like doing up the engine fully and then using crappy fuel and oil.
Good hunting.

And Killer, what would your choice between the Whiteline 18 - 22mm sway bar or the 19 - 23mm one? They're the same price.
Killer

Sway or Strut?
Regardless, the thicker the tougher. Of course eventually there will be a limit that body gets too stiff and is bad in wet etc.
I have std Sway and no Strut. So - really cannot give you a personal answer based on experience, sorry.

Rear sway bar. That's what Whiteline have available. They're both adjustable. The 18 - 22 has been recommended and the next one up is probably a bit to stiff as you mentioned. I'd like to tighten up the rear, not kill comfort. At the moment I don't have a strut brace or rear sway bar.

nahah. all sprimgs are one of the longest running and best respected spring manufacturers in aus. they do kick arse work. this sounds around the right price too. although probably not fitted. remember kings unfitted should only be 240.

Would definately get the new shocks as well.. even with a sportz or VR-X. Got my sports lowered and yes it handles better but have been in one with the same springs but with Gas shockies and their just is simply no comparision.
Dont worry about extra labour costs, they still charge by the hour and if you get both shock + springs or just springs then shock later their want be much difference in price.

The Sensa-trac's aren't suitable for lowered height springs 'cause it's basically working in the "firm" setting all of the time. Go the GT Gas, you wont be disappointed! :)
Check out the monroe website and search for Mistubishi Magna. It lists the part No's and which type of springs each are suited to.
