I have checked all the electrical leads on the back of the socket, all connected, nothing noticeably wrong. Its still not working...i use a converter in it everyday for my laptop as i work on the road...is there a fuse that could have been blown? Any other ideas of how to fix it?

Could just get a new cigarette lighter barrel. K-mart might have em. Give em a call.

yeah there is a fuse just grab a multimeter and have a look in the fuse box..............

On the TR Magna the fuse is in the box near the drivers ankle and is a 15 amp.

Put $100 on it its a fuse.. Check simple stuff like that first..:nuts:

Wasn't the fuse...gonna buy a new barrel, hopefully that will fix it!

It would be worthwhile checking with a multimeter on the back of the barrel to be sure current is getting that far.

Went to wreckers, got another barrel, works perfect! :cool:

Is it possible that the laptop is drawing too much current and your lighter socket simply burnt out? something to look into.

Yeah it could be that, hope its not otherwise ill be replacing a barrel every couple of weeks...i think whats happened is i use my laptop on it everyday but the other day when it stopped working, my fiance tried using her straightener in it and it much has blown then cause thats when it stopped working...

need to up rate the fuse otherwise next time she plugs the straightener, it'll melt the barrel

No dont uprate the fuse that WILL cause a fire. Yeh that's whats killed it mate, you cant use high current devices in the cigarette lighter socket, it uses too much juice. As above VERY lucky she didn't start a fire!
