View Full Version : manual conv in 2nd gen
Hey all,
I was just wondering what the going price for a 2nd gen manual gearbox would be??
i am getting more and more keen on the idea of swapping out the tired auto tranny in my KR Verada and dont want to get ripped off when and if i go to a wreckers.
Also , i know CHOONGA did his for $800 or so but that would have been real cheap.
What would i be looking at roughly?
I might be able to get a couple of mates to help me (read:do the work for beer)
but it might have to go to a garage....
*edit* i just did a search , found heaps of stuff but not a whole lot on prices , so think again before u tell me to do a search :-)

it will be the same as most cars when you do a manual conversion
1 manual gear box
2 manual selector
3 manual console
4 manual brake pedal
5 clutch pedal and pedal box
6 clutch related hydraulics
7 fly wheel and clutch, and while you have it all out get the fly wheel lightened and balanced and put a heavy duty clutch in
8 not sure but manual drive shafts? (in RWD tail shaft)
9 possibly spigot bearing (its really a bush)
thats about it

lol i care. my KR hasnt got reg on it atm, and when i take it to Vic Roads i dont want them to say nick off mate and put the auto back in.
well i couldnt imagine that it would be illegal.
you dont have to cut anything or do anything that would need any engineers certificate.
do you??

Worst case scenario they say nick off, you get an engineers certificate for a couple of hundred and all is sweet....
Well actually worse scenario the car blows up wtih you in it on the way to vicroads.....

You will need an engineers cert for sure. Just check with Vicroads or the RTA, whoever is your state's motor registry BEFORE doing anything
